WE know that sending Resumes has very little chance of getting an interview especialy since 30000 people are applying for the same job.
Also apparently from what i read, companies use special scanning machines that scan for keywords.....so they don't even look at the dumb resume themselves.
Moreover, if you don't have high degrees and tons of experience, they won't be interested.
My education is low just a simple BA and nothing in the sciences, AND my job history is mostly simple general office work...so it's not impressing or anything.
What to do to get an interview?

Choose a manual / low paid job. I never wanted to work in a shop but I couldn't get any other work. I sent 100 spec letters out, got one reply, had the interview and got the job. That was 14 years ago.
It's a job and the money is decent. It's boring as hell sometimes but at least it's something.

I generally just always apply to all the retail stores in my area...thats how I got my last two jobs.
What's your BA in? And why do you consider that low education?

Scotty, how you get into retail even though you're shy?? Isn't that high customer service? I don't try retail cause i know i'll fail.
My BA was in some foreign language that has no use. And i consider it low because it has no value in this society. all the companies are just impressed with Tech degrees and science degrees or business admin. But also i consider my brain low because I'm not a good speaker. Typically University people are usually people who were great outgoing speakers in highschool so even if they're not smart, they sound smart and talented cause they have aweesome speaking skills.
I may've passed college by chance...but it doesn't mean i did well in any of the presentatations i had to do for classes. IN fact, those were miseerable and i sounded like an a**. I can't speak well at all.
So even if I say i have a degree, employers wouldn't take me seriously because i speak worse than a kid.
Anyways, My job search today was well i just looked for jobs online and there was nothing. Most jobs outthere are retail OR jobs for people with high degrees.

Yeah but Scotty you gotta understand, you just needed to open up. Some of us have speech impediments/mental retardation(slight) and if we open our mouths things don't make sense. And retail companies don't want that kind of people.

Working in retail helped my shyness too. I started serving customers in a shop 17 years ago. I hated it at first, felt awkard, I was probably horrible at it. But gradually I got better and now I find it easy. I'm not great looking and my speaking voice is terrible but I've got passed that and I enjoy talking to customers now.

Ok BUT so i hear resumes are picked by a machine that scans for keywords. So if that's the case, then the possiblity for interview is very low.

That depends on what you put in the resume. Besides, i doubt many companies can afford a machine like that, just the biggest ones. Just go for it anyway.

Yeahhh. So far i'm still looking. There's nothing i can apply to online in craiglist etc. most jobs there are fake scams. I've tested them.
ANd al the other stuff i see in the newspaper etc is for Pros with years of experience.
I'm just looking for some general work, i have skills but i'm not a pro at anything.
