Hi everyone.
I'm from the Midwestern region of the United States. I've had difficulty making friends and taking initiative since I was born. Doc calls it Schizoid Personality Disorder (SzPD).
I'm in my senior year in engineering school right now and I feel like this thing is really starting to hold me back and make me unhappy. I have a GPA/academic record that would make me competitive for solid graduate schools but for whatever reason I just didn't bother applying this year, even though graduate school feels like the right place for me. I guess I'll be applying for entry-level engineering jobs this winter.
I've been experiencing physical symptoms of anxiety lately that are completely new to me. I've been getting more headaches lately, along with general muscle tension and feeling of tightness in my chest. These symptoms occur whenever I start thinking about what I'll be doing next year after graduation, or even when I start to ponder the relationships that are missing in my life. The only thing that will bring me out of one of these tense states is lorazepam (dangerous, but I've been using it for 6 years and have learned how to use it responsibly).
But anyway...
That's my introduction. Thought I'd log in to this forum and see if anybody is experiencing anything similar.
