My favorite author! His new book just came out, did anyone get a chance to read it yet?

Dry was a very moving memoir, I agree. I was confused though, it was either in his memoir collection "Possible Side Effects" or "Magical Thinking"... but Augusten writes about a mortician that he is romantically involved with. However in "Dry", the mortician is a straight ladies man. Pighead is also mentioned in "You better not Cry" but by a different name and a moderately differing back story. Augusten's writing runs into itself sometimes... No less entertaining of course.

I've listened to 'Possible Side Effects' on audio book, but I don't remember his mentioning the mortician or Pighead.... then again that's not saying much, I have a terrible memory. But I imagine he uses a certain amount of license with his work. It makes it no less interesting or heartfelt. Surely he couldn't have been involved with the mortician from 'Dry' though, that one was straight. I'll have to check out 'Magical Thinking' ;D If you like Augusten Burroughs, you might also like David Sedaris or David Rakoff, all three have similar styles and they're all amazing writers. (though I personally think David Sedaris is head and shoulders above the rest )

Pighead was mentioned in Augustens collection of Christmas stories, but by a different name. He was described as a friend/lover who had died after developing AIDS. And I just remember Augusten mentioning doing some naughty things with a mortician in one of the two books. I found it odd that he would befriend two separate morticians (being that it's a unique line of work) but I suppose it's possible he might have known two! You know I was wondering why David Sedaris sounded so eerily familiar. I'm reading his book "When you are engulfed in flames" for the first time right now. It must be a sign! haha I know Augustens brother John Elder, wrote a memoir as well, about how he grew up with aspergers. I haven't read it yet to be honest but that may be the next book I crack open.
