Ok, just an idea I had. With the chat group long since gone from the forum, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a chat group on skype? I know this place is far from busy when it comes to posting now, but I figured it may be worth a shot seeing if anybody, old or new, poster or lurker, would like the idea. I only have a few people in my own contacts who I could invite to a potential group, so maybe if anyone else would like to join they could post in this thread with their skype name. Or private message me if they don't want to display it publicly? I think it's a shame that such a great place (and chat space) has been so quiet, and thought that perhaps this might bring a few people back together/in contact, and be a place that new people could also get to talk a little with others belonging to this forum. I have to say, I've rarely used skype with voice chatting, mainly just messaging. So there'd be no pressure at all on that front for anyone. I figured a central place to chat, drop in and out of conversations, or just post a message now and again would be kind of neat. Anywhos......if anyone likes the idea, feel free to say so here, post your nick, message me. Hopefully it will take off. Ok, I'm going back under my rock now. Toodle-pip!

I think it might be good for the SU forum, to use that as an alternative if the chatroom here is unavailable. Skype would probably be a more easier way to get to know each other more.
Although, i think it could also backfire since Skype would be more personal? Sharing more personal information seems more intimidating/scarier. For me at least.
But maybe for some guys who are brave enough, and i know there are people who are here. It might really help for SU members to meet new friends.

This takes me back about 10 years when we used to actually... um interact beyond the forum lol. Sounds like fun

I'd love for an SU group to come together again! Even if I can only most likely make it to the tail end of the conversations most days.

I'd be interested, if I can ever get Skype to work again.

Cool that some people seem to be interested. Hopefully keep bumping this thread will mean it's seen by others too. I'll get onto this as soon as I can. But if anyone wants in, they are welcome to send me their skype nickname, either posted here or private message me. That goes for those who have already replied and those considering doing so

I would think that getting onto Skype would cost money, wouldn't it?
Some people in the company I work for communicate by Skype, but it is not on the computer that I use to do my work on, and I was told they would not install it on my computer, altho conference phone calls, which I would very much benefit from, in doing my work, are held only on Skype.
I even asked the higher ups if I paid for it myself, could I get Skype installed on my work computer?
They replied NO.
I suppose I am just too low on the totem pole to do skype in my company.

PS to the last one: If I did have access to Skype, I would consider it, but for the present the answer is No, I can't participate in any Skype calls with you other board members, but for those who can, I think it's great.
For me, maybe some day . . . (as Mark Lindsay concluded one of his songs).

Skype is free for personal use if you use it to call other Skype users, it only costs to call phones (and group chats don't work that way).

We're really only using it for text-type chatting.
Perhaps...we should pin this thread and un-pin the chatroom thread that is no longer in use? (if anyone thinks it's too cluttered to do so) I haven't attempted to get in to that chatroom for the longest time, so maybe I'm just assuming it's no longer used.
