i posted this on another forum, but i thought you all could give me some advice too:
i have up to one year of college education. i do plan on going back to school, but in the meantime, i need to get a job. it doesn't really have to be something that pays a lot because my boyfriend makes enough for both of us. the problem is that along with being depressed, i am very shy and have social anxiety. i would really like to find a job that does not involve customer service. i'd like to work with animals, but no vets will hire me. i wouldn't mind volunteering at an animal shelter or something, but i know we could use some extra money. i have experience as a assistant manager of a cafe, but i don't really want to get into that again. i really don't know what to do. i'm open to any suggestions that don't include nudity or anything illegal.

My sister used to work at Service Merchandise, which is now closed in our area. She worked in the back and all she had to do was take orders off the shelf and put them on the conveyor belt whcih sent them up the the customer pickup window. I'm not sure where you live but I know of a few stores that still do things like that. Since you have restaurant experience you could work as a food runner on weekends and other busy nights. All they do is deliver food to tables. Here in New Orleans they make minimum wage plus tips so you would make pretty good money considering the hours. Or the library is a good place and they have awesome insurance plans since you would be working for the city. My brother works in one. He started off as a "page" all he had to do was put the books back on to the shelves. Now they have paid for him to go school to be a librarian(sp?) and when he graduates he will be making pretty good money. If you go to your city or county website they usually have postings for jobs. Hope I gave you some good ideas. I will post more if I think of any.
