hey all a while ago i was told that shyness is ilusion, a false image, a preconception. that shynesswas just the judgement of another. when you are said to be shy by the quick judgement of someone you may have never even spoken to or seen only a few times, they keep that image of you being shy because some dont believe that they have the time to see the real you. this then make you start to believe that you are shy when the thought may never even crossed your mind. what do you think? before you thought you were shy, did someone tell you, you were and if so did this get you thinking? ~catch22

i've been shy before anyone ever called me shy. in fact, when i was little i was very outgoing and friendly and chatty, but as i grew i kept more and more to myself, and now i hardly ever talk to people anymore. nobody has ever called me shy to my face before.

I remember my mother saying I was shy when I was short enough to hide behind her skirt.
I like the Buddhist philosophy--shyness is an illusion, just like everything else. Shyness is just one type of way a person reacts to other people.

I don't think that hearing people saying that you are shy can trigger your shyness, it's more how you feel.
I was never told I was shy but a lot of people thought I was haughty and looking down on everybody because I wouldn't talk to them and looked bored. I wasn't, I was just scared and didn't want them to see it...

I've never thought that was what triggered me being shy. If I was hiding behind her skirt, I clearly was shy already. Being 28, I obviously don't hide behind her skirt anymore. And, being shy never bothered me until around puberty.
