;D Does anyone else find 'the giggles' sheer hell!! You'll be sitting in class, cinema, library (just somewhere serious and quiet) and you'll start chuckling about something and you just cannot stop -no matter how many people look round at you and give you one of those funny looks. It's so embaressing, but you can't do anything about it! I really don't understand how you can be doubled over, cross legged and pinching your nose to hold in laughter when you don't find the situation funny at all! There is seriously nothing funny about getting the giggles.

Our physics teacher is a real fool. Every now and then we'll get a laughing fit over something he says. You are giggling, laughing, tears welling in your eyes, stomach aching ... but can't stop. The teacher is sitting there not understanding what's so ridiculous ... I am always afraid the others will suddenly sobber and I'll keep laughing alone. Fortunately, it has never come to that...
It's probably not the same situation you describe, but I want to say - laugh - there's really nothing bad about it.

Laughing is good, we should all do it as often as we can! Don't try to hold in the giggles, or you might end in a comedy explosion some day. Teeheehee. Keep up with the giggling! This message was brought to you in association with the Giggling Promotion Board.

Yes, this happens to me all the time. I'm constantly finding myself laughing at the most mundane and unamusing things. I was thinking it might be some sort of nervous reaction to certain situations. One thing I've found helps is that I don’t try to stop myself as that just makes it worse, instead I just try as much as possible to "relax and stop laughing naturally", for want of a better way of putting it.

Actually, I'm afraid of looking more up-tight But yeah, it can be tough, especially when your 60 year old physics teacher is wearing an extra tight pair of pants and the poor geezer's reputation hangs in the balance ;D

Sometimes I’ll have flashbacks to things that happened in the past, and start laughing over it - just out of the blue - and if there’s anyone else around, I’ll get funny looks - they think I’m some kind of a nut - and, in all honesty, they’re probably right. I've done that a few times. It can be funny and embarrassing

This used to happen to me a lot when I was younger. Two specific examples come to mind.
I was in grade school and one of my classmates pronounced a word incorrectly. I couldn't stop laughing, and when my teacher called me on it, I gave her some flismy excuse that I was laughing at something else.
Another time, my grandfather was showing us some of his memorabilia and neither my brother or I could stop laughing. I don't even remember what we were laughing about, but it was totally unrelated to my grandfather. My parents tore into us on the way home about being disrespectful. I look back on that with utter shame...

I am the queen of inappropriate laughter. Things just strike me funny and I lose composeur. Often, it has nothing to do with what's happening or I am thinking some really nerdy reference to a book or movie. I am nearly famous for ruining the end of Reservior Dogs (when three people shoot each other) by bursting out laughing in the dead silent theater. i'm surprised no one threw anything at me. My friends still bring it up when I see them or go out as a way of saying DO NOT EMBARASS US. I just start laughing.

Let's not kid ourselves, everyone in that theater felt like they were going to burst out laughing at that moment ;D
