Why does it seem like I get more attention from middle-aged women? Whenever I am in a line at the store and the cashier is a cute young girl who is my age, she never smiles at me. But then when it is a 35-60 year old lady, she will smile her butt off and make it seem like it is extra special to have a customer like me come up! WTF? Do they read right through my forehead and into my brain and see that I am just a big shy dork who never has even been with a girl? Is that what they are smiling at?

It's polite to smile at the customers. That's what they're supposed to do. They aren't laughing at you or anything. They're just trying to be nice and friendly. As for the young girls not smiling, I'm not sure what to tell you. Perhaps it's the way you appear to the different cashiers? Are you more comfortable around the middle-aged women then some young girl you find attractive? Do you have eye contact and smile when you walk up or are you more awkward around the girls you like? I don't know. There could be many reasons.

To me its harder to get attention from most young girls. They will look for the guys who have the most trendy, cocky appearance, like the backstreet boys or something stupid. This is the fault of the relentless and efficent marketing machine that makes billions off these girls. There's nothing we can do. Older, more mature women probably realize that a lot of different men have good qualities and are attractive. Another factor is that, quite frankly, the younger girls are more likely to be shy themselves or just rude. Older women would be more outgoing and courteous - more likely to look people in the eye.

Looking at women in their early 20's is pretty much a lost cause in many cases.. that's all any of them want to do is party party party.. take a look at 95% of the profiles on your typical online sites like yahoo or hotornot... they want cocky, arrogant smartasses who will show them a great night life... and in many cases they keep up that behavior till damn near age 30... it's seemingly slim pickings for people in their early to mid 20's who just want to settle down and start a family.
It's no surprise 50% of marraiges in this country end up in divorce, and why some people are giving up on the idea of marraige altogether. Popular culture, hollywood, and the media has screwed up this society. Everything is so superficial and fake... so much obsession on things that in my mind just don't matter.

WTF? about a year ago I was in a store and the clerk was this 70+ year old lady and when she gave me my change she had the biggest smile on her face and she grabbed and held my hand and said something along the lines of "you should have a really great day because you are so good looking"!!! talk about fucked up!!! Women my age don't give me the time of day, but I can gain the interest of someone my grandmother's age? The really sad part is that, in this last year, I've sunk so low that I'm afraid if that happens again, I will probably ask for her number.....
