Okay, during lunch there is this guy at school who sits alone. i want to invite him to sit with me and my friends , but I am shy around the opposite sex, and I am afraid of his reaction. Should I just ask him or not?

People at my school were assholes. You couldn't trust them. Plus I'm a dweeb and was always the target.

Same here! Once I remember that some boys had done something to the chair that meant it would break as soon as I sat on it (luckily I picked up on this beforehand). I hate a lot of that stupid "My friend wants to go out with you" bullshit too. Nothing fucked up my self esteem more than school.

Okay, So I asked to sit with him, and he sort of nodded his head, and didn't really look at me. My friends came over a few minutes later, he ignores us. Ah well, I went way out of my comfort zone in doing this! (I am really shy) Thanks for the encouragement!

Well, I thought he didn't seem interested, but he is probably shy. I just didn't want to scare him off.

Ah well, I went way out of my comfort zone in doing this! (I am really shy) Thanks for the encouragement! Well done! It takes a lot of courage to do this. I tend to look for other shy people who seem to be loners because I will feel less intimidated approaching them.

Well, I thought he didn't seem interested, but he is probably shy. I just didn't want to scare him off. Earlier in this thread I said that no one does this to me. In school I was approached by a girl as I was sitting at the side of the field during a sports lesson. She was an outgoing girl who had a lot of friends, and she asked me if I was ok and if I wanted to go and sit withe her and her friends. I think I appeared uninterested to her but in truth I was terrified. Thinking back it was a sweet thing to do. She was a really thoughtfull girl. In college a girl approached me and we were friends then. Our friendship was ruined 5 years ago really because our friendship was in danger of becoming more, as she was already engaged to someone and she just stopped seeing me. I still get messages from her on networking site from time to time.

phantom...good for you, I'm proud. Him not seeming that interested is no reflection on you. You did great. Hopefully he can come out of his shell

I hate dudes like this.
But I don't blame him, I sympathize for him. Hopefully something extremely happy happens to him, I only wish him happiness; having dealt with many of these types in high school, i only wish them happiness, I've seen some then go out and seek that out at school to replicate that happiness that comes from outside of school, a small moment of oppurtunity where I wish people like you where around then... cause then some of the close up after that hahaha, oh well, you try.
