I didn't know people can be THAT shy. I'm going to think twice before I do anything from now on. Don't want to hurt anyone.

Clinically, shyness seems to be "social anxiety". Extreme social anxiety seems to often be shown in a fear of leaving the house.

Soicial Anxiety is far beyond shyness and it's a terrible and debilitating illness. People who are not crippled by shyness simply can't understand and relate to this illness. And anyway, that was a very mean thing for her co-worker to do to anybody. Pauline just happend to be sensitive due to her shyness, and it hurt her more than it probably would hurt you. That still doesn't excuse her coworker's nasty behavior. Pauline, I just want to tell you to keep your head up girl! Don't let anyone make you feel bad because there is no human life on this earth that is better than you or anyone else for that matter. I don't know if you believe in God or not but I'll take my chances on this one and let you know that although you feel lonely now just know that when you cry, Jesus cries harder and when you hurt he hurts more because he loves you. You did nothing wrong to your co-worker, and be assured that God is not pleased with her!

Steven and Pauline- The bathroom was one of my favorite places too. I used to skip class and hide in the stalls because the very notion of attending class was overwhelming. The teachers would notice, drag me out of the stall and send me back to class (of course I went to another bathroom. lol)
But anyway, some people are just so cruel and the hardest thing to do is to let something like that go. What I found out is that you really don't have to let it go and you can actually gain confidence from it. Sign up with a mental health advocacy group like NAMI or something and help others understand what exactly is going on. I believe that it's our responsibility to spread awareness of these disorders because only we can truly understand them.
Good luck, Meg

I would probably hide in the bathroom all day at school, but the bathroom is a very dirty place and everyone goes in there to talk, so I am better not doing that... I fear that I am going to be in the same situations when I start working... nevermind, I am going to do something that doesn't require me to work with those stupid, mean people.
