Hi, I just started high school last week. I love school but I hate Physical education because our teacher makes us get a shower after. I am so shy and self conscious about this. I was thinking about mitching scool to avoid this
Anybody else not like things like this?

Yeah, I never cared for group showers, either. The only time I had to do it regularly was in the dorms. And in the dorms, eventually, people got their schedules such that everyone took showers by themselves--dropping 8:00 classes, waiting, getting up a little early. Everyone did this, though, so it's obviously not just shy people who don't like showering together. But, in middle school, I missed 6 weeks of gym, because they expected us to do intermediate/advanced gymnastics and I'd never done gymnastics(I was new to the school). The first day, the first time I tried something, I hurt myself. Didn't go back. I skipped a lot of school outside of that, too--I found that soaps are more fun than school. Cost my mother a lot of money in missed work and doctor's bills, though.

The good thing for me was that for the first 3 years of high school the showers never worked. In my last two years, we used to get PE last two periods so I would normally walk home in my PE gear and change in th ehouse.

Heck, do they still have Physical Ed?? I last had it in high school, which I graduated from 7 years ago. But by far the worst, was those first classes in middle school. A bully "borrowed" a quarter from me in the locker room but never returned the favor. Jumping jacks and flag football, who did they think they were kidding?! If they want kids to be active, make the period fun. Introduce rollerblading and riding a bike and climbing walls. But showers get better when you're older. Join a gym when you're a working adult, showering won't be so bad.

For boys, anyway, it's also intended to make them appropriately interested in sports, competition, and all that crap.

I hated PE with a passion. I manged to get my violin lesson to clash with our half the PE class. That way, if I didnt turn up, all I had to say was, "i've been in a violin class, no point me joining in for 15 minutes, is there?" I managed to get out of all sports days too. It was my special talent. Its an uneccesary evil in my opinion.
