What is it with men and engines eh?!! They see a motorbike they like the look of parked on the opposite side of the street and instantly start eyeing it up. Without any thought required they cross the road and start heading directly for it. And then when they get to the thing they have to walk around it a good ten times, does that not make you dizzy? They have to examine every aspect of the vehicle and if there happens to be another bloke doing the same thing they begin testing each others 'knowledge' on the bike. They ask all these technical questions and reply with a technical answer. They don't actually know what it is each other is saying, it's simply a competition to see who can come up with the most believable load of crap. And what do car magazines talk about thats so great to read? Is it really that interesting to read about different kinds of petrol and all these 'makes and numbers'.
Is there more to it than what meets the female eye?
...that ought to provoke a bit of a response... ;D

Psychologically we are so much different. Women are generally practical: they think what to cook today, when to go shopping, how's their son doing in school, will the finances last etc. We, men, most of the time don't take those into consideration (until they hit us, that is). We are dreamers - we like to spend 100+ hours glueing together a paper castle model (that will from woman's point of view only gather dust on the shelves), caring about WWII motorcycle veteran (we never intend to see on the road) - disassemblying and putting it back into one piece every other day, raising a 50 level computer game character or building a virtual city bigger than the developers meant to (at that point the game is a pain but the pedantry and wish for the comlpexity you have made is stronger). We also love to talk about it with anyone sharing the interest (do interrupt two foolball fans or car freaks in the heat of a discussion at your own peril).
Speaking about replying a believable load of crap - the best part about it is that both parties then go home and try until utter exhaustion or success to see the made up thing come true. Most of the time they succeed and then brag about something even more incredible.
I don't know much about cars and petrol types but I can swear I know about every possible type of processor cooling pastes, can tell every 1998+ graphics chip number by heart... I hope you get the picture.
But to be honest, you females are not exactly spotless in this respect: what is it about entire books (no, wait, small libraries) written on cooking? And what about knitting, watching soap operas, keeping meticulous order and cleanliness in the kitchen ... truely, there's more to it than meets the male eye (more so, if he only glimses at the females's 'foolishness' and continues to wax his four-wheeled 'darling').

I can admire a nice car or motorcycle, but know zero stats and would not want to just stare at even a very nice one for long. Sports, simply bore me. I like video games, but MMORPGs are too much of the same stuff. On this, actually, male-female ratios much more even (compared to other video games).
Women like talking about stuff they are interested in, too...
And, I got hooked on a couple of soap operas in middle school. Faking sick, because I couldn't do the gymnastics. A couple of times, near the end of my "sickness" I faked because I wanted to watch the soaps.
As far as cleanliness, the most anal retentive person I've known was male. He kept his remote for his TV in a plastic bag to keep away dust.

My boyfriend is a mechanic, so I constantly he's pointing to some car, telling me the HP, # of cylinders, and I'm just like "Huh?" Over the years I have learned to tune it out though.
As far as myself goes, I'm not into cooking, knitting, sewing, soap operas, and I'm not really that good at keeping my place clean. So not all females are into that stuff ;D

Lol Mind ;D Not all men are like that...You just have to find them. Don't worry, you still have 20 years ahead to try to achieve this nobe purpose I always perceived women as dreamers, rather than men. Not that men don't have fantasy, but women tend to be the ones who go ga ga about something. I have had to point out to a woman that her husband is a man and man don't really see the use of bringing home a bouquet of flowers or another "romantic" surprise. Perhaps males do fantasize as much as females, only their fantasies are just different. At games I never liked power players, who were out to reach the highest level, best equipmeny, etc, etc. In fact, I spended part of my time playing Mother Theresa giving the newbie's and others a big bad spell up. Engines never did me much. I can appreciate a good ride though and bikes. I am just a average housekeeper and my cooking is basic. Gymnastics wasn't my best subject, but I didn't do bad either. I don't know how to knit and sewing is something i don't trust myself with. Hmm...I think I need a maid I once heard a woman say that her future husband should like footbal/soccer/or any popular sport. Otherwise something must be wrong with him To quote someone I know (and is a guy): " Do all men like cars? Am I not a man? Cars are boring. I can think of no other word that describes a car." "It scares me when other people can guess the type and brand of a car someone drives by the sound it makes 1 km behind you." When he was walking with friends they heard a car closing in and one or both of those friend went "Yeah, that's a Toyota - insert brand, production number AND year and other stuff that he couldn't understand -, all right." He tried to guess one, heard a vehicle coming around a bend in the road, and said; "Yeah... That's an... er... It's a Nissan!" That was the only car brand he knew and it turned out to be a tractor ;D

It seems like where I live, everytime you ask a guy what his job is he says he's a mechanic. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but it makes me sick after awhile. Where are all the artists around here?

Heh, Im like bi-polar when it comes to interest, usually im that guy looking at the nice ride and blabbing about the compression ratio and such. Although I could care less for bikes.. But now im on the opposite end of my bi-polar interest table. I could care less about engines. Im back in to guitars and amplifiers and Tube Electronics! Again more the techincal side than the actuall playing side! Im happy to say im putting in quite a few hours on the guitar these past 2 weeks. What do you say ladies, Would you rather see the Guitar playing rocker me, or the Gearhead me? (and soon to come, the mellow funk bass player!) ;D ooh I cant wait till I can afford a small bass rig.

I don't know jack crap about engines and cars and whatnot, and sometimes it makes me feel like less of a "guy's guy", especially when I'm with a girl who knows more about that stuff than I do.
