I've read a survey saying shy people tends to have higher IQ!!! Yeah, I totally agree b/c we don't speak stupid things, we think before we talk! I'm tired of loud people, they are so annoying, like when they find out what the problem is, they go "OHHHHHHHHH!!!" blah blah blah, in my mind, I was just thinking, they are so stupid to figure it out 5 mins later...

I think it is true to some extent. I always think through everything I do extensively before I do it, while many non-shy people tend to jump in with both feet. Therefore, I seem to be better prepared in case things don't work out.
I have one online friend who used to get on my case for "always having to plan everything" and "never being spontaneous". Well, guess which one of us was always complaining that nothing worked out as expected?

Yeah I think alot of shy people are very intelligent - having severe shyness causes us to think deeply about ourselves and analyse our thoughts; alot of people on this forum seem to be brilliant at spelling & expressing themselves too, so I really think it's true! ;D

when i was little people in school used to say i was too retarded to know how to talk. i would go days without saying a single word in school. people would form opinions and pick on me becuase i am shy. ironically i was one of the smartest people in my class. all the loud people talk to me like i'm slow and i hate it becuase just watching and listening to them and seeing how stupied they act or sound just makes me angry. i think be4 i speak and i often just spend time snalyzing things or refelecting instead of chatting. thats y i think us shy people are more intellegent then those who have too much to say.

Thinking before one speaks does not indicate a higher IQ. It would just allow one to SHOW intelligence more. IQ is not supposed to be dependent upon what others see of one's IQ. IQ is supposed to be independent of studying, but it is not completely. Shy people probably spend more in more solitary pursuits--like studying and reading. I have one online friend who used to get on my case for "always having to plan everything" and "never being spontaneous". Well, guess which one of us was always complaining that nothing worked out as expected? Just tell him that you like to be spontaneous and not plan things, but you prefer to do it in controlled, planned ahead ways.

Hey Laura I was just like that at school - not speaking a word to teachers or other children! It's called Selective Mutism - the most severe childhood form of shyness. Wish my school had known that back in the 1980s - the teachers just thought I was stubborn and the other kids disliked me But like u, I was known to be very intelligent, esp at things like writing stories & spelling

I would some what agree with that. I'm not exactly good at memorize stuff for test, but book work and common sense came easier to me, than the people who talked and talked all the time
