Do any of you feel this way? I really would like to go to the gym but I'm worried about the people around me, also I fear that if a girl spoke to me there i'd go really red and feel embarrassed for no reason

Well personally i go to the gym almost everyday and it doesnt really bother me. Maybe if you just go a couple of times you will get used to it and more relaxed? I always take my mp3 player with me so i just listen to music all the time Im there and no one ever talks to me. If you are wearing earphones people are highly unlikely to talk to you I think. On the other hand if you want to get to know new people the gym can be a good place to start as its quite easy to talk to new people there if you want to.

I also hate going to the gym for many reasons:
-I hate rooms that are crowded. -I feel like everyone is watching me and thinking what a fat, sweaty pig I am (I'm not really that fat - maybe just 10-15 pounds overweight). -I, too, am scared that a gorgeous, fit guy will talk to me and I'll get really awkward. Then again, I'm sorta fat and sweaty so why I think this might even happen is beyond me.
But I go anyway because I need to lose weight, and I need to get over my social phobia. Exercise is good for anxiety. To get through it, I just listen to some really comforting music and observe other people. Most of them are just into what they're doing and don't care about anyone else.
