i went to this church retreat and met a whole lot of people a lot of people my religion and i felt really comfortable talking to them(cuz in my town my religion is reallly discriminated and were the major minority, so i think that was part of the reason of what was holding me back). i think surrounding yourselves with other people with the same interests as you could help you to break out of shyness.
..also acts of selfless service for other people. that really helped me to.

Completely agree with you. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people is great. I've been more comfortable in places where I know people are like me (i.e. specific clubs/groups) than I have in any other social setting.

i think that once you leave your natural surroundings and get to more comfortable surroundings, with friends with the same interests, etc. it worked for me, but i don't know about you guys. i live in a really, uncomfortable surroundings that don't fit me, but its okay. i think i would be more comfortable somewhere else.
