I've always been described as soft-spoken and even though I can project my voice while I'm teaching, I've noticed that when I end up talking for most of the period, by the end of the day it seems as if I have lost my voice. I drink water all day long but it doesn't help. So I was wondering if it had to do with being soft-spoken? Does this happen to any other soft-spoken individuals if you talk a lot during the day? Is there anything I can do to not lose my voice? Thank you  |

yeah, i have had that problem too. besides keeping water handy, singing around the house while i'm home alone helps.

I talk all day long and I have to raise my voice because I work with the elderly. I'm exhausted by the end of the day! I too am a soft-spoken person. Maybe some tea would help you too.

I can't really talk from personal experience. I've got quite a "strong" voice (not the right word, but I can't think of anything else).
My mother gets it a lot, though. She's a teaching assistant. When she's had a particularly busy day and it happens she sometimes gargles soluble aspirin.

I'm only 15, but the only place I actually do talk is at home. Even at school when I'm with my friends I'm an observer; not a participant and I'm a listener; not a talker. To keep my voice I call my best friend a lot and I read to my grandmother out loud while she's making dinner. By about the third page my voice sounds almost raw.

I have a quiet voice, and it is easy for me to lose my voice. Recently when I had the flu I couldn't even speak to the doctor, luckily I had already knew I had an ear infection so I wrote it on the form they initially made me fill out.
Sometimes when I have lost my voice water only makes it worse. I need a cough drop or something with corn syrup in it that coats my throat.

yea i too have a soft voice i often think i m at the same volume as evryone else but find i have to repeat myself because they didnt hear me. I also work part time as a cashier and its quite normal for me to discover at the end of a shift that i have bit of a sore throat from projecting my voice ,but as i m gettin used to it its gettin better i think sumtimes my soft voice is a psychological / subconcios sorta thing and that my vocal chords are now just used to that. and i must agree water doesnt always make a sore throat better sometimes it can iritate it.
