I told my therapist that Im thinking of doing my thesis on this and she said go for it, but you will not make freinds with the faculty. One faculty member is gay and an advocate of gay rights and feminism. Im thinking that if she is an open minded person I could benefit from working with her.

Hey man, in the academic world, you have to make your mark, and i say go ahead and research this topic! Go for it, buddy!! Screw the other professors if they don't like it; universities are centers of heated argument and disagreements. Academics routinely hate each other, and attack each other a regular basis. If they don't like it, then that's tough. Publish your research anyway. This politically correct version toward homosexuality will not last anyway. I think you may have something with this genetic thing after all, man! Full steam ahead!!

thanks for the support. My thesis is for the honor's program and the purpose for it is to encourage us into going to graduate school which many require a thesis for admision. To make it more clear , I am not making any moral or religious points in my thesis . No reader should be able to know my personal views on homosexuality after reading it. It is purely scientific in nature.

Further, are you pointing toward a specific approach to this homosexual topic? I'm a little confused, Man, Tell what you're gonna work on, a little more clearly. It's about the genetic connection, yes?

argument against genetic connection , argument for social psychological and biological factors. and showing how gay advocay and political coorectness are effecting homosexual research. Im challenging the APA's policy that homosexuals are born gay and are unchangable . some of the research im going to use was actually conducted by members of the APA.

I think Zaab was talking about spontaneous orgasms, just to clarfify. This seems to suggest that the infant or toddler doesn't know what their doing, just experimenting. I'm sorry, but I still find the whole thing completely ridiculous. I've been around my sis's kids a whole lot, and never once have I come across them doing something such as this. I'm with blondie...an infant-2 years is too odd of a time. I've never heard or seen of such a thing before.

All i was saying was that Zaab just brought up the topic because it sounded odd to him; i noticed he does that often. I don't think babies masturbate either, but i am confused. I'd like to know about the extent of this research conducted, how many babies were examined and all. I admit the idea is a bit outlandish, but hey, like i said, academics will publish anything to get attention.

It makes sense they'd touch themselves if it feels good, and it doesn't seem like a huge leap to suggest that there is feeling in their genitalia even at such a young age. A baby cries when its diaper is soiled, suggesting that they do have sensation in that area. While it's dubious that a baby would have the coordination necessary to stimulate themselves to orgasm, by two it doesn't sound impossible to keep touching onself until that point. Fantasizing is probably out at this early stage, lol.
I remember my parents telling my brothers to "go to the bathroom if you have to keep touching yourself," heehee. Assuming that this is drilled in as soon as any touching is observed--and I would suspect parents often associate it with a need to urinate, not create pleasurable sensations--it is reasonable to believe that a two-year-old could be stopped from masturbating simply by brushing his hand away and keeping him preoccupied.
I've seen toddlers stare at their little fingers in fascination--tapping them together as though amazed that they can make them work. What kid doesn't poke at their own toes as soon as they can reach them? And the fingers go up the nose before you can say, "I christen you Johnny Smith." Why wouldn't a child play with his or her genitals, if every other appendage and orifice is fair game? Children who are watched closely--as young children should be--and who are forbidden to hit their siblings and prevented from eating skittles from underneath the refrigerator (as often as it can be prevented) are usually not going to be permitted to touch themselves constantly. So maybe a 2-year-old could masturbate to orgasm, but he/she probably won't. A 1-year-old might have a little trouble. They've got those dinky little arms... lol.

wow those kids are way advanced in reference to Freuds pyschosexual stages of development. the genital stage starts around adolescence these kids should be in the oral , phallic, or mabye even latency stages.
I am not a big freud follower. Im more of a cognitive behavorist . one of my proffesours calls the psychosexual model "Bullshit" I have to agree.

What do you think the phallic stage is? Ages 3-5 Primary gratification is masturbation and genital fondling. Let's not forget the other theories on child development by Erikson, Piaget, Montessori, Mahler, and Judith Rich Harris.

[/quote] yeah your right its been a while since i looked at the theory, i just checked the book this is also the stage that insestial conflict, penis envy and castration fear supposably starts. none of my proffeseurs use it much so they never have expected us to memorize it. they empahise the historical importance of freud but do not overly emphasise his theory. as far as Piaget and Erikson my professours use them readily. Piaget is more about cognitive development and Erikson social development . Erikson was a freud scholar but emphasied social rather than sexual development.
