(sorry for the dp) I’m not saying I want to be a talkative person It’s just easier for them, like when my mom always nags me to mingle with people every sunday at church, which really pisses me off, I have a hard time doing that. Afterwords, I say that I don’t care about what they talk about, and they are all a bunch of nerds but I’m probably just excusing myself for being shy...

Ah that's what I thought. Even though you got through it you're already dreading the next one. I've gone through that so many times.

I believe that is a start for you. Keep yourself motivated in overcoming your shyness and you'll surely achieve it. Keep pushing yourself. You pushed enough for you to do the presentation, that tells you that you want to improve I sometimes don't even try because I don't want to go through the disappointment of the failure. Yuck.

oh good the first day of another semester tomorrow. I hope I dont have one of those moron teachers who require you to stand up infront of class and talk about what you like. I really really hate doing that.

My classes started Jan 8.. I hated the beginning of this semester, also... I had to do the stupid introductions in just about all of my classes... except for big lectures. I think it's really dumb, though... because it doesn't really help you get to know anyone or get the teacher to know you... for me, it's always been a nerve-wrecking waste of time. Oh, and I have a class that bases 10% of our grade on discussion in class! Isn't that great..... I have an 5 quizzes/exams in 2 weeks, too... woooo... Oh the joys school brings

I remember seeing that 10% about class discussion. I always ignored it, and I always passed the class because I proved myself in other ways. I'm not saying you should ignore it though! Try and see how things go. I remember my first semester in college, I was in my English class and I actually had something to say. I said it, with my heart racing a mile a minute, and it felt really good to finally speak in front of people. But that's because I was with a bunch of people I didn't know, and previously I had been with my high school classmates from kindergarten. Try small things.

I had to introduce myself in spanish but it wasnt as bad as I thought It would be because I got to sit down and she asked me the questions she wanted. She still gets me to talk all the time even though I look in my book trying not to be called on. I hate that class. My other two clases are cool because those teachers dont make anybody talk, oh yeah and I don't have any oral presentations this sem. woot! Anyway, my spanish teacher made me read a paragraph in spanish but I think I learned something. for any of you nervous readers heres a good tactic: If you get really nervous when your reading just pause and clean your throat- that gets me a few more words in before I get nervous again. It sounds bad but Its much better than choking up.

We all presume that we're being judged, but I'd love to really know what those other kids in the class were really thinking of us! Maybe they were just as nervous. I never concentrated on other presentations until mine was done, because I was freaking out too much about my own. Damn I'm glad all of that's over with!
I used to skip school too, I just couldn't do it. Things got more serious in college because I knew if I didn't do a few of the presentations, I'd fail, and I was so close to graduating that I just had to suck it up. It hurt so bad and it was a disaster, but I have my diploma and the rest is history.

Hmm, I actually liked giving oral presentations (even though they made me really nervous), for some reason. They weren't really hard for me to do if I had EVERYTHING written down on paper and practiced it a few times... and I did look at the audience (well, more like over their heads) while talking. It's when I only have a few seconds to think about what to say or give an opinion, like in discussions or when a teacher randomly calls on me, when I really struggle. I also like reading aloud in class when the teacher asks me to.. but I'm guessing that's because I'm good at it, unlike a few of the other students who read really slow and mispronounce words... and probably because it doesn't require much thinking, either.
