somewhere in the bible, on some verse it says "be slow to speak" or something like that (yeah Im lazy)
I think thats a good life lesson. cause when we act all anxious and speak without thinking it gives a bad impression.
When we give Ourselves more time to speak we can think of better ways to say things. anyway, I try to keep that verse in the back of my head, and it helps me.

Sometimes I get so anxious when I am talking to someone I don't really think about what I'm saying and say it quiet and fast and the person doesn't understand me. I get alot of 'what's from people. I have to just calm myself and take it slow and steady, then i usually do all right. You really have to think about it though and not let the anxiety control you.

sounds like some advice I need to give to some people at work. their mouth runs faster than their minds. its funny when they talk, they say something and they keep repeating it until they get the rest of their thoughts together and the whole time I'm tring not to laugh

Time to think before speaking is a luxury. I don't do too well at 'on the spot' thinking. If only conversations where like message board threads...with several hours to prepare what you want to say rather than making up some dumb sounding crap on the spot. lol

being "on the spot" is a good example of this you shouldnt immediatly respond, that makes you seem nervous just take it easy and wait a second or two

Yeah, take control of the convo...reminds me a bit of Tennis, where some players often try and slow the game down by wasting time to give them the advantage. Slowing things down when you're standing several dozen feet away with a net in between is much easier though...eye contact is very intimidating... lol
Another problem with slowing stuff down is if you're concentrating on keeping things slow and not seeming anxious, you end up forgetting what u want to say, or forgetting the question. Basically you end up so pre-occupied with the format of the convo, the content gets lost - your mind goes blank and you're back to square one with the other person wondering why they bothered talking. lol

Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Here it is^ from james 1: 19 or something
