"Welcome to SHY United - the positive website for people who are shy, socially anxious, socially isolated, have low self-esteem, no self-confidence or are interested in self-help." These are the words that appear on the homepage of the Shy United website - www.shyunited.com. If there are shy people on the web who want to maintain a site which emphasizes positive communication and de-emphasize flaming, trolling, personal attacks and shockjock entertainment, I don't see a problem with it. There are plenty of places on the web where a person can go for that kind of entertainment. The perception here is that there are shy people who benefit from having a relatively safe environment in which to express themselves. From what I've seen, this is true. I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of censorship so I've never tried to get rid of anyone I don't like or have any of their posts deleted or anything like that. The only person I've ever censored is myself. But, bottom line, this shy community has the right to self-regulate to maintain an atmosphere which encourages shy people who have difficulty expressing themselves to speak up. If anyone has a problem with that, then I think that indicates this really isn't the place for them. A problem which is easily remedied.
