Hi, I'm new here. Discovered the forum when someone over at SAUK posted a link. I found some of the stuff I read here really funny so decided to sign up! ;D
Are you living with your parents/grandparents?
No I returned to my parents' house in 2002 after deferring my university finals due to depression. Rather than smothering me with love, however, they kicked me after a few months and had me locked up for getting in a fight with my stupid brother.
Unemployed?
Yep, been on incapacity benefit for 4 years.
Married?
No, never even had a girlfriend.
Children?
Other than my inner child whom I am seemingly completely out of touch with, nope.
An escapee from a mental institution?
Although I have been suspected of such in the past, nope.
A troll living under a bridge?
Worse than that, I live in a squalled little flat in a trashdump town in the North West of England. I might as well be a troll to my neighbours - they never see anything of me other than the occasional twitching of lace curtains.
What is your present age?
Twenty-six. Same age as Travis Bickle was in Taxi Driver.
What is your gender?
Male.
Where do you currently reside?
North West England.
Are you living in a town, or an unincorporated rural area?
Like I said, a hideous town.
Favorite movie?
Once Upon a Time in America.
Favorite song?
I like classical music, especially Bach.
What is the nature of your shyness?
Social anxiety disorder. I get panic attacks when the spotlight comes down on me and whenever I feel the remotest of threats such as walking past kids in the street.
Is it preventing you from achieving your goals in life?
Oh yeah, I have always been incredibly ambitious ever since I was a kid.
What ARE your goals in life (if any)?[/color]
Happiness, money, getting out of England and finding sunnier climes, love, romance.
Have you made any significant progress in overcoming the condition?
Not much. As I've got older I've discovered things are getting a little easier, I hope this continues. I have just about every SA book out there, a bunch of CBT books, the Dr Richard tape series, the Anthony Robbins series, the Lucinda Bassett series and more.
What is the nature of your relationship with your parents?
They annoy me beyond belief and I hold them responsibly for my condition for the most part. They are my parents, they should have nipped it in the bud early on rather than fueling it.
Have your parents been able to maintain the viability of their relationship?
Well I'm not sure how, but they are still married. They seem mellower now - no frightening bouts of uncontrolled rage like in the past.
Did you have a strict upbringing?
Of sorts. My parents were not thoughtful in ther approach to parenting. They just seemed to act on instinct, usually brutish rage, bad tempers, and general unlovingness.
Are your parents over-protective?
They're cold stupid brutish people.
Any siblings?
One sister one brother. Both stupid. I have always had a poor relationship with both and not spoken to either for 4 years.
How many friends do you have?
One or two.
Any of them that you would consider "close?"
Both, perhaps.
Who is the most important person in your life?
Me.
What are you interested in?
Computers, playing and listening to music, design, art, reading, theology, philosophy.
Do you have any religious beliefs?
I was a staunch Catholic traditionalist for a while and I was considering a priestly vocation. Now I am just confused. If I must be labelled I guess I belong in the agnostic camp.
If so, how often do you attend your church?
I used to travel miles every week to get to a special traditionalist church and serve at the altar. I had to learn the complex ceremonies, Latin and so forth. Other times I would sing Gregorian chant in the choir or play the organ.
What do you like to do for fun?
I sit at my computer for 18 hours a day using the Internet. A couple of times a week I go to my parents' garage and lift weights, and once a week I go and play with a local jazz band.
How often do you have fun with your friends?
One a month maybe. My friend just likes to sit in smoking weed though, which I don't find much fun.
Have you ever been in an intimate relationship? Still a virgin?
Never and yes, respectively.
Were you a target for bullies in school? Held up for ridicule?
To a small extent during a few periods of my school years. I think I would have been bullied more if I were not so tall. I was always tall and quite broad as a kid. Often teachers used to single me out for ridicule. My social anxiety was often misinterpreted as insolence.
Are you over-weight? under-weight? physically disfigured? handicapped? speech impediment? poor eyesight (requiring thick glasses)?
I have small bones inherited from my chinese mother so some of my features such as my wrists, forearms and hands are really effeminate which annoys me no end. However I have quite broad shoulders and a thick neck so if I wear unrevealing clothes I can mostly hide these unslightly elements. I have been lifting weights for the past few years to try and combat this problem. I hope one day I can wear a T-Shirt and shorts in the summer instead of thick clothing. I'm also short sighted and have to wear glasses or contacts. That doesn't bother me so much. The glasses make me look a bit older, which is good, because I look about ten years younger than I am - another incredibly annoying thing.
Do you have a physical illness/condition that is limiting your life?
Nah, other than a bad back it's mostly in my head.
