Thoughts, baseball fans?
As for me, you can look at my location and pretty much guess what my opinion is. ;D

I think he should be in too, considering he would be going in for his baseball career, which he didn't taint by betting on baseball at that time. He bet on baseball after he playing career was over and he was a manager. I think that shouldn't negate his playing career, which is obviously hall of fame caliber.
I'm a bit biased too, since he was an integral part of the 1980 Phillies World Series team, the only Phillies team to win the world series ever in its 125 year history.

It is funny how Pete Rose only gets one strike and steroid users get three strikes and they have more of a direct impact on the game than Pete Rose did. I would put him in the HOF but there would be a notation on his plaque telling what he did and I still wouldn't let him in baseball.

I have no idea who you are talking about but I don't think what someone did after their playing career in any sport should be a slur on their achievements as a player. So I vote him in!!

I think he should at least be elligible for the Hall of Fame. Even if he did bet during his baseball career I still think he should be considered. Its horrible to think that Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire are eventually going to get into the Hall, even though they took steroids. ~i.a.

What, you're throwing your hometown hero Sammy Sosa under the bus. ;D I would have to agree though, all their records should be thrown out. Its painfully obvious a lot of players, Sosa, Bonds, and McGwire included, got huge and muscle bound very quickly. Look at all those players rookie cards and none were very big. I don't believe it was merely hard work in the gym that did it.

His baseball career is pretty much over now, he did nothing with the Orioles and they didn't sign him for another season. Now Corey Patterson is going to the Orioles...hahaha!! All of the Cubs rejected players must go to Baltimore now. Isn't former Philly Jim Thome a Chicago White Sock now? I still dont like them Friggin world series champs... I thought it was absolutely hilarious when Raefal (sp?) Palmeriro was tested positive for steroids and then he says he has no idea how got in his body, that he never "knowingly" took steroids. Okkkk... ~i.a.

Yes Jim Thome is a White Sock now, the Phillies had to get rid of him because they have a really good rookie first baseman, Ryan Howard. And its very easy to unknowingly take steroids, I sit on unknown syringes all the time. I could have anything in my body. ;D

Of course he should be.
Others have done far worse.
Plus I am from cincy and am old enough to remember him playing.

If someone would have told me sooner!! ;D Does anyone think that they would toss the records made by Bonds, Sosa and McGwire? Give the records back to the guys who deserve them I say. ~i.a.

Does anyone think that they would toss the records made by Bonds, Sosa and McGwire? Give the records back to the guys who deserve them I say. ~i.a. I would highly doubt it, even though they should. It would be too controversial and difficult to determine all the different players that had taken steroids. So nothing official will happen, but I think baseball historians(why can't I get that job?) will view the 90's as the "steroid era" and judge the records accordingly. And you are right about the players that deserve them not getting any credit. Roger Marris must be spinning in his grave, he in my opinion is still the single season home run king.
