My mommy always told me that there are two topics one should NEVER bring up in casual conversation... religion and politics. Very true. That's good advice man. Especially at work, and in the public. In fact, i'd extend that advice to any controversial topic in current events. Unless you know and trust someone else enough to tell them what you think, too often discussions like that can get ugly, and turn into shouting matches.

My mommy always told me that there are two topics one should NEVER bring up in casual conversation... religion and politics. True they are risky topics for any conversation, but imo self-imposed silence/censorship just helps breed ignorance. Humans learn through discussion, but if things like religion aren't up for discussion, people will keep on believing the same old lunacies (not that I'd advise talking politics with some big, fat drunk dimwit in a pub lol).

Very true. But as we talk and discuss and share ideas with one another, we must also develop respect and tolerance to go aloong with it, no matter how different we might be. Tal and I, for example, are about as far apart from each other in terms of thinking as two people can get, but we still retain an healthy and heartful respect for each other.

Looks right to me. I'm right/authoritarian(haha!) if I must say but some personal freedom and religioius/sex questions drew me to the middle.

I did take this quiz before.. It's interesting to see how events and time can affect how you score. (I've just looked back and Tal has said the same thing.. that'll teach me for not reading carefully before I post).

'"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" is a fundamentally good idea.' That's a non-question. I mean just look at countries who've tried the Marxist socialism and communism and look how "good" they had it and how it ended.

I got: Economic Left/Right: 1.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.31 I agree with your previous statment that some of the question were phrased oddly. I love Ghandi, and like the Pope and the Dalai Lama. I don't know why Mandela is so left on that chart, either.
