So I was shopping at a store today and this male employee starts asking me questions. And the conversation was going pretty good, I was stoked that I could actually hold a conversation with a guy. Well, one thing lead to another and he asked for my phone number. By this point in the conversation I could tell something was wrong, he was just too smooth, too studied. So what did I do? I panicked and gave him my number. I'd like to blame my stupidity on his smooth moves, but that wouldn't give any credit to my dumb brain. My stupid, shy, flustered brain that said "be nice" "don't give him a false number" "maybe he could actually turn out to be nice"............yeah right, so I got about halfway down an aisle where I still knew he was behind the counter but he couldn't see me, and what does he do? He does the exact same thing with another girl. Not three minutes after me. Totally smoothed talked her too. How could I be so stupid? I totally got played. So it just so happens that I'm in line behind the girl he chatted to after me, and she was talking about him with the check-out lady. And once that girl left I made a joke like "that guy seems to flirt with all the girls" and she was like "I'm not surprised, he flirts with anything that walks".........in conclusion, not only do I feel like the dumbest girl on the planet, but my self esteem has also plummeted. Glad to know I'm anything that walks...... I shall have my revenge if he calls though

I shall have my revenge if he calls though wow! revenge? isn't that a bit much? you two don't even really know each other yet. all he did was ask for your number, presumably so he could give you a call later and see if you'd like to get more acquainted. would you only go out with a guy who has never asked a girl for her number before in his life? do you require a certified virgin? granted it doesn't make you feel real 'special' when you hear a guy ask another girl for her number right after he asked for yours...but it doesn't sound like he intended for you to overhear. do you think all the girls he asks say yes when he calls to invite them out? i doubt they do.

Whoa!! The "revenge" part was meant more as jest than anything to be taken seriously. I was just feeling a little angry when I wrote that. I don't have much experience with guys asking for my number. Maybe girls who get asked all the time can just brush it off like nothing, but for me it sure doesn't happen every day. And I think I'd rather have a certified virgin than a player.

okay, but better hurry...they're goin' fast! Haha, very true, but it does happen to be an idealized dream of mine, even if it has little chance of being fulfilled.

Hey now, I said it was an idealized dream, if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't.

Glad to know I'm anything that walks...... I shall have my revenge if he calls though My only problem with this story is the question "Whats a guy supposed to do ?" Often times on this board and in other settings I am constantly told that part of the problem is that I have not asked enough women out and that I need to do it more if for no other reason than just for the practice. Well in this case the guy is doing just that an you are calling him a player. So what exactly is the magic number how may girls can a guy ask out in a single day and how long must he wait between women? Believe me I WISH I had one tenth his courage! By the way all you did was give out your phone number! Never ever call yourself stupid just for that

Thanks Littlesongbird! You're right, I may be a little quick to call him a player, but he does seem to be a flirt. Malcom72 - I totally understand what you're saying. I don't know of any good strategy for guys or girls, sorry With this guy it wasn't as much the numbers, but the way he acted. For me, personally, outgoing and aggressive guys make me nervous.

If I were shopping in a store and an employee wanted my phone number I'd automatically think it was some kind of ploy to get customer information and that I'd wind up getting telemarketing calls from the company.

All he got was your number. If he decides to call and you don't want to deal with him, you can always turn him down.
Come to think of it, wouldn't that be revenge?
