I just heard this premise, on Dave Ramsey's radio show, and I think it's definitely true. Most people that succed, anywhere, are 'people's persons'. Or at least are social and know how to communicate well.
What say you?

I'd say it depends a lot on what you do. A marvelous mathematician who spends his life calculating numbers and who wins prizes and gain great respect and honour for his works, doesn't have to be a "people's persons". Same thing for a physician, a doctor, or a language expert. On the contrary, if one has ambitions of becoming a great leader, social skills are definitely required, since it involves working with people such as being a senior MD for an enterprise.
It all depends on what one defines success to be.

Well a doctor has to be a people's person if he wishes to be successful. Or to put it another way: a shy doctor would probably not hold his job for very long.

Maybe a doctor wasn't the best example, but I still believe a shy doctor could succeed in his work, depending on his shyness^^.

Well he could succeed if he became more social. And that's entierly possible - a lot of people overcome fears by facing them.

Exactly, if its just buisness it shouldn't be difficult to talk about it. That is how I am with school related things. I have no problem talking about work its just the subject of 'me' which is uncomfortable to discuss.

Might be, it depends on how shy he is and how willing he is to work with his attitude towards people. I don't know how med school works, but I'm sure a shy but brilliant doctor student would fit in there, too^^.
