EFT absolutely does work.
You have to do it though. Like anything, if you don't do it, it won't work.

OR Using EFT to Get Past Reluctance to Use EFT
A client said, "For some unexplainable reason, I have not yet begun to
practice EFT. Hmmmm.""
If I had a nickel for every time someone's said that! LOL
Just start by using EFT on the reluctance to use EFT and see what
happens. ;-)
The only people I've seen that don't get a good result with EFT
are those who stop using it entirely. That's a clue they have
other deeper issues about who they are perhaps or what they
believe and without addressing those or at least tapping
regularly they'll not break through the wall of reluctance.
It all comes back to being ready: When the student is ready to
learn the teacher will appear. I think we're all doing the best
we can at any given time and our actions support what we truly
believe is best, so if a conflict arises such as doing something
that doesn't support what you say you want, addressing it with
EFT can help. The best part is you don't need to analyze yourself
or "figure it out" first.

Get Ideas for What to Say When Tapping
Think out loud, or write down what you are thinking verbatim,
then turn it around for ideas to tap on.
also hear a lot of, "Oh, I don't want to say what I don't want!
That's being negative, that's doing the opposite of what I've been
taught. I want to use positive affirmations!" and so on. Okay, so
where has that gotten you so far? If you're not happy with your
results up to this point, open your mind and try something new and
different like EFT. Give it a chance the way it's taught. There
will be plenty of time to get creative later. At the worst it
won't help but what if it did? It's worth it to find out.
The breakthrough comes from simply using EFT and seeing what
happens. Be open to the possibility of letting go of your weight
problem can be enlightening in itself, and it may feel like the
weight of the world is dropping off your shoulders. Wouldn't that
be nice?
