Rude people just bug me and I wish I wasn't shy so I could stand up to them or at least express myself to someone who treats me rudely. But instead I just take it and cover it up and seethe about it for a few hours.
Yesterday I took the day off work to do some christmas shopping. I had to return something I had bought for my mom (wrong size) I went to the department store I bought it from. Normally I don't return things but this time I had to. All I know if you should have your receipt which I did. I had bought it on my credit card because I don't like to carry a lot of cash and get nasty looks if you write a check so anyhow.. I thought I put it on my regular credit card (bought the gift about a month ago) but I had put it on the store credit card (probably because there was extra money off if you used it.) So the lady asked for my store credit card so she could put the refund on it but I didn't have it with me. Also I have already paid the balance off and didnt' really want a credit on it (I don't use the store card that much).
I appologized for not having the card with me and she said she could just look my credit card number up. I asked if she could just put it on a store gift card (I could give this to my mom) and she said NO it had to be the same form of payment I bought it with (even though I had the gift receipt with me) I didn't argue because I don't work in retail so I don't know these things. She told me to write my social security number down on a piece of paper and I was leary of this. I don't want people getting ahold of my social #. So I asked if I could just tell it to her. She snapped at me that it was easier to write it down. She said she would write it down and tear up the paper afterward and give it to me. I just smiled and said no thanks I can tell you what it is. All she had to do was call a number and look at my driver's license and then punch in my social security number (as I told it to her)
She wrote my ss # down as I told it to her and then shredded the piece of paper and handed me the remains. Made me mad because now i have trash in my purse and I just told it to her and she could have punched it in number by number on the phone. no big deal.
Then last night I went to the animal shelter I volunteer at. I was the ONLY volunteer working last night so I had to clean EIGHT rooms of animals. That is a lot of work. But I do it for the poor animals not the people so its ok I guess. But I was there for four hours and was very tired toward the end. THere is one cat there I really like and feel sorry for. She has been there almost 2 years. She doesn't really care for people (I can relate to that) but seems to be a sweet cat if you don't smother her with attention. They have faucets in each room (the animals are loose in the rooms) and they have a sign that says not to let the water run to amuse the cats because of the septic system. Well I had to fill up water bowls anyway and the cat wanted to drink out of the faucet. So I literally let the water run for less than a minute and the cat was drinking and some lady who works there that I'd never seen before walks past the window and then comes into the room as I'm working and she says "well some people can't read!" and turns the water off and then says "we don't do that!" and then slams the door.
First of all she treated me like I"m an idiot or a child or something. I was the ONLY person working and I'm a volunteer and she's not the least bit grateful for that and instead belittles me over something stupid. I mean she could have just walked in and at least said hello or asked what my name was and instead she has to be a b*tch and treat me like dirt. It wasn't like I was letting the water run full blast for five minutes. It was literally a slow drizzle for the cat to drink out of.
I was so mad! I saw the lady walking back in forth in front of the room I was working in so I waited till she could see me and I walked over there and turned the water back on (harder this time) for the cat and stood there while the cat drank. The lady saw this and I just smiled at her! I know that was wrong but I was so angry so I had to be all passive aggressive. I wish I could have just confronted her (nicely) and let her know I didn't appreciate being spoken to like that.
