I recently found myself out of work for the first time in my life ,and have been having a hard time with job interviews. I get so nervous and stressed out that I never represent myself very well.
I always manage to do pretty well on some of the interview questions, actually sounding quite smart. But usually by the end of the interview, my smart answers are buried under all my dumb answers.
Any advice? Similar experiences?

In a shocking way, I'm actually pretty good at job interviews. I try to keep in mind (the whole time) that whatever company I'm interviewing for needs me more than I need them. Be completely honest with your skills (so that it doesn't come back to bite you later) and ask a lot of questions. I gather questions from doing a bit of research right after I find out I have an interview. Google the company, check out their website, google the industry. As about everything under the sun. Most importantly, have all these questions written down so that you don't forget them. Good luck.

my last interview i passed it cause i was confident and i faked it . Maybe i had practiced mock interviews from the interview book i had checked out from the library . i had practiced alot so maybe that's why my faking skills were good.
Not that it's good to lie..but you can just make it seem it's true and give some truth to it but you can hype it up too. just like we always hype resumes "Processed THOUSANDS of ..every day ...etc"

that is great doing so well on interviews. I always sucked at them
Practising and telling them what they want to hear really does work.

The problem is G ETTING INTERVIEWS. You keep sending resumes and get nothing. Now that i'm unemployed, actually i dont' even know where to send resumes cause there's no ads for work that i can do.

I am painfully shy, have been out of work since March, about to loose everything, and the longer I go without a new job the worse my shy personality takes over. I hate interviews because I can never represent myself well, but once past that when I find my comfort zone I do well. Its tough being shy, but it's also good, because it gives others courage to step out when they see other shy people concurring their fears. I contribute my being able to leave my house to my belief in that God is with me always helping me every step.

I hate job interviews. Hate them. No matter what youy say there's always something else you wish afterwards that you'd said instead or as well as. I've had quite a number of interveiews in my life, out of which I would consider a small propertion, perhaps 15% to have been 'good'. Out of that, I have been offered, on my own, without any help from a training college or previous knowledge, three jobs. Two of them I turned down (one because the pay didn't make the extra travel and the not free parking worthwhile, one because....well frankly I don't know. Moment of stupidity). The one I got was possibly because the person interviewing me was an even bigger geek than me and possibly because I was more than worth the salary.
I hate my current job and am worried that I don't seem to even get interviews any more, and when I do, the worry and stress make me mess them up. Unfortunately, being in my mid 30s, I haven't really got age on my side any more.
It's weird then that in the last couple of years, at least three people have come to me asking for CV and interview advice. In fact in one case I went to a lot of trouble to help them with their CV. The same person sought my advice when she was going for an interview a couple of years back and was worried about what sort of questions she would be asked. And yet I'm appalingly bad at them myself.
I am convinced that job hunting should be classified as a blood sport.

I remember my last interview, I'm sitting and waiting in the outer office, stressing and going over in my mind what to do, sit up straight, look them in the eyes, be confident, speak clearly etc.
Anyway the human resources person comes to get me, and show me into the board room where the interview is to take place...and its my worst fear, not 1, not 2, but 3 interviewers.
I sit down and they start with questions. The worst part is, most of the questions are questions I have heard before...you know the ones (gooogle top ten job interview questions).
Why can't they just look at my resume and ask me questions related to my job history. Why can't they just take the time at contact my references. Why is this so friggin hard.
Why can't I just win the lottery.

I've been wanting that for years. Everyone I know: "1229, what do you want for your birthday/Christmas/you name it" Me: "TO WIN THE LOTTERY!" Lets all buy bunches of tickets and split the winnings. ;D

You're lucky davidesamulson I had a telephone interview a few months ago and that was really awful, I think I'm just glad of face to face interviews now.
