k im a shy person i guess from what people notice and i guess ive been like this for a long time but i really dont care anymore because whenever i try to improve my shyness i just screw everything up, and what really pisses me off, is when im with a group of friends ya know having a good time and stuff and there just happens to be a atractive looking girl there with us. and this happens to me every single time, the girl goes, why dont u talk? or why u so quiet? after i hear that my night is instantly ruined and i just wanna choke her. the thing is i have nothing to say back to them because its true, and i know what shes thinking, shes thinking that im wierd and girls dont like wierd guys i guess.lol well im just trying to think of somthing to say to a girl that ever tells me somthing like that again. not too mean, somthing that might spark a conversation between us,maybe like ugh ur such a buzz kill. something that would catch them off gaurd......

That sounds really annoying. When people give me the "why don't you talk?" comments, I usually just give them a silent dirty look with my piercing laser beam eyes. I wear my emotions on my face and make sure to show them with a look how genuinely irritated I am so they won't try to talk to me that way anymore. Not saying that's a good idea...it's just what I do, lololol.

I've never been in this exact situation (i.e. getting this question on a date), but if it really got to me, I'd try to find a way of being honest about it which doesn't come across as defensive or weird.
In fact, maybe the question itself could become a topic of conversation: "you know, I've never known how to answer that question... why do you think some people are quiet?" It kinda puts the hard part of answering it back on her, without being a jerk about it. And you don't have to bullshit, which for me would be a huge source of stress.

I don't know of any good comebacks. I do know it's pretty annoying when someone pulls this on you. It usually tells me that this person is nothing but a prick and to stay away from them. Thats what I always usually do.

Thats what I always usually do. Someone I know through work had to repeatedly point it out, yeah like I didn't already know, I agree they can be pricks for pointing it out. Sometimes I simply have nothing to say so I don't say anything.

Oh man. So true. It's unbelievable how many times I've had to fight off attractive girls. Like, seriously ladies, back off. There's only one of me. I can't help it with this animal magnetism of mine. Woe is me. ...

LOL great thread... made me think of a funny story from High School. I was in a class that had two cheerleaders in it. One day after class they blocked the isle and one of them said "where have you been my whole life sexy" dripping with obvious sarcasm. My reply was "where I belong" which left the two girls speechless. Normally I would not be so bold... but that day for some reason it just really got to me... then I went through the day wondering if they would have their boyfriends beat me up... but all was well, I never got beat up and the cheerleaders never game me any grief after that incident.
