More caution on Seroxat in todays BMJ.com:
Stop giving Seroxat drug to children, GPs are told Source: Daily Mail Date: 11/06/2003 Most of today's papers report that the medicines and healthcare products regulatory agency (MHRA) has advised doctors not to prescribe Seroxat to under-18s, because there is evidence that it can trigger suicidal thoughts in this age group. Recent studies of adolescents taking Seroxat have revealed that they are up to three times more likely than those not taking it to attempt suicide or harm themselves. The drug is not licensed for the under-18s, but there are at least 8,000 children and teenagers in the UK taking it. The chairman of the MHRA has warned that children on Seroxat should not suddenly come off it as this could trigger withdrawal problems or cause depressive thoughts to return.
