definatley though. music hasnt been the same since The Verve broke up... (only joking) music industry is def in tatters at the moment . I observe that there arnt alot of bands with soul or passion any more ,or artists who are interesting or have integrity. i like muscians who are passionate about what they are singing about, who stir my emotions, who make me think deeply about things. arnt alot of ppl like that any more.

I used to love music, but have now lost all touch with the music scene. There is so much rubbish coming out at the moment. I'm just sticking to listening to older stuff.
I must be getting old!

It is getting bad. I mean, its been bad before. The 80's got really really bad music wise, but then there was always an undercurrent of good music back then. Seems like now there is no undercurrent.

Ok, I must be the only one who likes the music that is currently out now. Although, it isn't exactly what one would call popular. Musicians such as Damien Rice, Howie Day, Nellie McKay, The Shins, Snow Patrol, Keane, Franz Ferdinand. Granted, the last 4 bands are slooooowly getting known, they will never get regular airplay on radio stations. Except maybe one or two songs. The Shins is finally getting some attention because Zach Braff put 2 of their songs in Garden State. And Coldplay, the new Green Day album and The Old 97's (a mix of rock and country) are great as well. There is good music out there, and it depends on people's taste as well. There is a station out here in Chicago that doesn't play the Top 40, WXRT which is great. There are more and more bands that are sounding like Blink 182, (a band from about 1997) a type of surfer dude "punk-rock." And that is what is getting radio airplay. Ashlee Simpson, Avril Lavigne, and other mainstream faux pop/punk "musicians." I am so relieved that the boy band craze of the late 90s early 21st century is over and done with. That sickened me. ~InfiniteAbyss

I like just about all rock from the late 60's to today, although I tend to stay with mainstream rock.. not the eclectic tastes that some of the people who listen to XM Satellite Radio enjoy, and I stray away from rap rock or talentless rock, such as Kid Rock. I think there are plenty of good bands coming out today, in fact, I think the quality of bands coming out today has increased from the middle 1990's, which was a strange era in Rock in particular. Especially in the last couple years I have noticed a bit more "normalizing" in rock from the experimental tastes of the 90's. I enjoy bands such as Hoobastank, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Three Days Grace, Jet, Velvet Revolver, Shinedown, Alter Bridge and others....going back a few years you have Staind, Bush, Nickelback, alternative bands like Nixons, Course of nature, and others... all the stuff you have heard on mainstream FM radio, yes. I enjoy the songs that make you think, and emotional love songs too. I started a thread in the general forum about favorite bands.. you can get a good idea of my music taste there. I also am partial to a well played symphony, as well as certain country music.. my tastes are pretty wide, really only excluding rap as well as anything really old, such as the Beach Boys, etc. Linkin Park is my one exception to this rule.. I love their music, even though it has a rap componant to some of it. It takes a real american patriotic nutcase who believes the rothschild bankers control this country and our foreign policy serves Israel to love the songs "american idiot" by Green Day and "amerika" by rammstein, thus these are also among my favorites.

There's plenty of decent music out there if you look, but it's very unlikely you'll find it on the radio, on the tv or in record stores (unless you live in certain countries).
Use the internet to find music. The record industries want you to buy trash, but the net provides the possibiliy for anyone to find something they like, which they wouldn't otherwise know of.
