Is it just me or has there not been a decent album made in about 10 years.

Agreed. Well there are some good tunes coming out every now and then but I think in general good music is coming rarer all the time..

Definitely. If I hear one more boy band or girl band I'll lose control.

They used to make proper music - bring back the 80's: Gary Numan, Bucks Fizz, Duran Duran, they were proper bands with guitars.
And policemen are looking a lot younger these days too!

Personally, I feel that no truly memorable music has been produced since Patsy Cline died...With some exceptions, of course.

seems like there's not a whole lot out there. i do like Coldplay, though. they're a decent band, socially/politically aware. good guitar too. other than them, it's hard for me to remember any good bands out there. i like the older stuff like in the 80's and sometimes 90's. then there's bands like The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel (oldie goldies, but goodies), Fleetwood Mac, 80's music i dunno. everything else seems bizarre!?!?!?!?!?! The best music of all time was the [glow=red,2,300]60's music[/glow] (Beatles, Doors, Mamas and the papas, Asociation, Hollies, Animals, just to name a few). 70's music is also very good and 80's music OK.
But everything changed in the 90s when rap emerged alongside teen pop (Britney, Aguilera, Pink and others in the late 90s). For me, listening to this music is a real torture.

I think my favorite era is the 80's even though it's a bit before my time. I quite like the pop music of then, but most of the current stuff I cant stand.. Artists like "Despece Mode", "Queen", "Meat loaf" "Alice Cooper", "Cars" "Elliott Smith" are amoungst my favorites.

Anyone listened to Micheal Jackson recently? [glow=yellow,2,300]Genious[/glow]
and just to be ironic and piss everyone off, Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!Justin Timberlake!
I used to like Coldplay, until coldplay became Chris Martin, its a shame when that happens...
seriously though we live in a superficial bitch culture, so , although many cant be forgiven (yes thats you avril lavigine, westlife, Gareth Gates....) if you cant beat them, join them, Christina Augulera might as well be a pole dancer but she does have an amazing voice, same goes for Justin, the boy can dance, so give them credit for being popstars.

I love music, i listen to anything from The Partridge Family to Metallica.I like the 60`s,70`s, 80`s,and a little from the 90`s. I listen mostly to the old stuff. The only singer/songwriter out of the 90`s that i love to listen to is Fiona Apple. Her music comforts me.

I've been exposed to a lot of music I wouldn't normally listen to because of my friends at work. I never thought I'd like an Incubus song, but "Aqueous Transmission" is just beautiful.

Yeah, a lot of the music now is crap, but I think there was a lot of good stuff in the 90's. I'm only thirteen, so I should like more modern stuff, but most of my cds are from the 90's. I like some new stuff too, though. I listen to Ani Difranco, Alanis Morrissette, Garbage, Incubus, Sublime, Eminem, and Papa Roach. Everyone has their own musical taste. Someday when I'm old, I'll probably be asking my kids where all the good music has gone because all the 2030's music sucks,

Ok, so, call me juvenile, but now in my forties I like lots of recent music. About the same proportion that I liked when I was listening to top-40 radio stations waaaay back in my teens/20s/30s. Really, back then I only liked 1/10 (roughly) of the songs. Today? Anything by Sarah McLachlan, some stuff by No Doubt, Trouble by Pink, Shut Up by the Black Eyed Peas is great, some of Alanis Morisette, some of Nelly Furtado, etc. (Note the preponderance of Canadian artists - we're taking over ). Sort of related to this topic, as much as I love Sarah M., her songs depress the heck out of me. Anyone else have this problem? She sings like an angel...who has been imprisoned in hell. Much like the feeling SA gives you at times.... For example, the lyrics to her current mega-hit, Fallen (her mournful voice triples the impact): Heaven bend to take my hand And lead me through the fire Be the long awaited answer To a long and painful fight Truth be told I tried my best But somewhere along the way I got caught up in all there was to offer But the cost was so much more than I could bear Though I've tried I've fallen I have sunk so low I messed up Better I should know So don't come 'round here and Tell me I told you so We all begin out with good intent When love is raw and young We believe that we can change ourselves The past can be undone But we carry on our back the burdens time always reveals In the lonely light of morning In the wound that would not heal It's the bitter taste of losing everything I've held so dear Heaven bend to take my hand I've nowhere left to turn I'm lost to these I thought were friends To everyone I know Oh they turn their heads embarrassed Pretend that they don't see That it's one wrong step one slip before you know it And there doesn't see a way to be redeemed

There are some good bands around. My favorite being Pearl Jam.
Though, most of what I like tends to fall into the 60s 70s eras. Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, Tony Joe White, Pink Floyd, Uriah Heep, The Who.
We need a rock n roll revolution!
