Oh no! The writers of Family Guy have killed Brian! This is terrible! He is one of my two favorite characters on the show! How can they do this? How can Seth McFarlane kill off the dog!

Thanks for the spoilers for a show I haven't watched in years. lol when were you planning on picking it back up? Anyways, they better bring him back. It's suicide for the show. Extremely dumb move, in my opinion.

It's little more than a publicity stunt. Family Guy was only created in the first place to take down The Simpsons according to producers of The Simpsons in a meeting Fox keeps denying happened. And since then it's done nothing but copy a far superior show and thrown crude, infantile, poorly written, poorly acted and poorly directed non-original crap in our faces. I'm glad Brian is dead. Seth has said he didn't want to the show to overshadow The Simpsons, a show he says gave him the idea for Family Guy, and that it should have ended years ago. Hopefully Brian's death will finally kill it.
It's either a publicity stunt to get viewers back after the show's viewership has declined rapidly in the last few years - the quality simply has not been there since at least season five and since then has been completely rehashed, or it's Seth trying to finish something that he wants to finish but can't.
I saw Brian's death on YouTube. Couldn't stop laughing. Good riddance. Hopefully this will pave the way for decent comedy from Fox to match the quality they have elsewhere in much better animated shows.
As Betty White once said, on The Simpsons, "Please viewers, keep this crude, low-brow programming on the air", and next to her, the Family Guy logo. Couldn't be more correct. Why they're doing a crossover this year, I'll never know.
It'll never last 27 years and counting...

ha. i agree spork. but i'm sure they'll bring Brian back. I don't like Seth MacFarlene's comedy but I love when he sings. Its like Frank Sinatra. I think MacFarlane is really a shy person underneath everything. That's why he disguises his voice, he doesn't put his own face on camera, and I've heard that he gets drunk before he has to do talk shows.

I think a person's eyes say a lot. You can tell Seth is quite daunted in interviews. You can tell by his eyes he isn't comfortable.
He is an incredibly talented singer. He sung a tune for Futurama a few years ago. I think he's chosen the wrong job, to be honest.
He's also providing a voice on The Simpsons, this year. Him and Matt are good friends. It may have already aired in America, but it hasn't in the UK. We're very far behind, unfortunately...

But hey, FG is an american show, so we see it first. Now you know how I feel about seeing Downton Abbey months after yall do.

I think it's a common misconception that anyone here actually likes Downton Abbey. And indeed, a remarkable wonderment why anyone else likes that slice of Britain's history that only accounts for around 2% of what we were actually like back then. There is a strong case it's doing nothing but pandering to the American idea of old Britain. You want a real slice of old Britain, watch Peaky Blinders, our take on Boardwalk Empire. And you want to know what modern Britain is like, watch the now departed Shameless UK. I can't stand Downton Abbey, basically. The 10 million viewers it's gets baffles me. Probably older people and the 'curious as to why it's popular' people.
Oh, and Seth's stint as Ben in The Simpsons aired recently. Really recommend that episode. Incredibly funny. Certainly back to the best in its 20s.
Its not all bad, though, We get some new episodes before the Americans. And some have been simulcast. Ha, ha, ha...

Seth is notoriously cynical and unforgiving. All what happened this week proves, is that it was all a marketing ploy to get people back after the serious ratings drop in recent years. He knows it's coming to and end, it's the last act of a desperate man. Someone enamoured by fame and dejected by its loss pulling his pants down in public for some attention.
Won't work. People can see right through his ploy.
Better to end it now before he embarrasses himself anymore.
When you give people crap to watch on television, it dumbs the world down. High brow programming is better for everyone, but we have become so used to this drip-feed of nonsense that we're willing to accept it without any thought to the soul it's costing us.
TV used to be a craft. But now it's just money, money, money.
Seth doesn't care about anyone but himself. He's happy with his gold mansion. And we're suffering.
Fully expected this to happen. Just typical.

Well TV still is a craft and in recent years there has been an increase in quality scripted television shows such as The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad etc.
The Brian being resurrected thing seems like such as cop out.

I know, it's not like they brought back Maude in The Simpsons... Oh wait, they did. Ahem...
The point I was making is that crafted TV is rarer these days. The Sopranos is a great example of when people get it right, although I can't speak for the other two since I don't like them. They're good, just not my genre.
But British shows are getting better at it. Doctor Who, Utopia, Being Human (original), Misfits, Broadchurch, Law & Order: UK, Peaky Blinders, et al. Very well put together programming.
We're getting better at it.

Personally I think American programming in general is better because they simply have a much larger budget and better writing staff.
I don't follow Family Guy, The Simpsons or South Park anymore because I think they have all lost it and that most shows lose it after a certain point in time, either that or like to try a new show after a while.
