There are quite a few actors who will say that they are quite shy, but I don't think they are anywhere near as shy as most of us guys on here. You would think that the very nature of their work would make that shyness disappear.
I was watching something on TV the other day about the film 'The Hours' and I think Meryl Streep said that she had been a bit shy her whole life. I hope I'm right there. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

Nicole Kidman says she's shy. Nicole was on the same show as Meryl Streep (and Julianne Moore). Perhaps I got them mixed up!!!

believe it or not but Olliver Reed was shy! Yes, that is extremely hard to believe. But if it's true, I think it's pretty obvious what he used to get over his shyness!!!

Dave Letterman is apparently shy... maybe he's just a loner (difference: loners have good social skills but they don't want to hang around). When I see him interview Harrison Ford, Ford also seems subdued and mellow... uncharacteristic of an action star like him.

So shy to the point where having public appearances is very difficult for them.

Apparently Fabien Barthez - the Manchester United - goalkeeper is very shy. Any other sporting stars that are shy?

Having worked for quite a few stars in my time there are many stars who actully value there privacy & often like to be able to wonder around in a baseball cap & sun glasses to avoid recognition.
Behind closed doors we are probably all diffrent from the person people see in everyday life.

Nicole Kidman has anxiety when she has to do "red carpet" events. Tom used to have to wisper things in her ear to help her get through it.
Robert Dinero wouldn't do a talk show unless there was no audience. I forget the show, it was one of the big ones and they had a private interview with him as if there was an audience.
There are a few more that I can't think of right now. The interesting thing is, the ones that do have a problem "being in the spotlight" are very big name celebrities.

According to todays paper, Chris Martin from Coldplay is Shy, a former girlfriend/close friend claimed he was pretty shy and had little experience with women.
