I'm told the Brits are scared and untrustworthy of standing armies at home, based on their own native experiences with the Stuarts and Cromwellians. lol who on earth has had experience of the Stuarts and the Cromwellians? That was rather a long time ago Russ ;D I think for most people any decision comes down to money. We don't need a standing army, so the money would be better off spent on things like health care and education. Well when I say 'spend' I mean wasted by incompetents but hey. Oh, i merely meant that the British historical experiences with standing armies has likely molded their domestic policies to distrust standing armies, and see them as needless, that's all.  Cromwell spent an enormous amount of money, relatively speaking, on maintaining the New Model Army in Britain, not to the mention the costs of conquering Ireland too.  Just a little side note, that's all. I didn't actually think any Stuart subjects are still alive and kicking, hehehe. |

The US army is generally very picky about who they take in peace time. War time too. I tried to enlist in the Air Force last year and they rejected me because I had taken Zoloft for a month a couple of years prior. They thought I was kwayzee!   |

No. Yes I have! and that being the case I refuse to be judged by someone who obviously has no idea where I'm coming from. By the way look at the military all you see is Blacks, Browns and poor whites. |

I can read man, but what I am saying is that no one forced them to join not even you. They or you didn't have to go. By the way this whole country is made up of minorities so it should be justifiable that our military would be made up of minorities. Also there is no one judging you man. This is the internet. lol |
