There's a really beautiful cemetery near me that I like walking through, and I'd love to be buried there. But if I can't, for whatever reason, I'll just go with cremation. (Hopefully all this will be a long time from now).
Sorry for the macabre topic, but I think this kind of stuff is interesting to think about. ;D

lol Interesting topic. I have thought about it a little. I think I would want to be buried but I have no idea where. Someplace I really like. The one thing I absolutely do not want is to be buried in formal wear of any kind. To spend eternity in a suit with panty hose riding up my crack would be hell! I think I would want to do something very humorous like be buried in a Las Vegas showgirl costume. ;D I want people to come up to the casket and laugh. That is unless Vic has me stuffed and mounted where I get to sit in the living room watching tv. ;D

i wish we could have burial societies in the US like they do in the UK. i read about one where your body is buried in a muslin shroud and a tree planted on top. no embalming with toxic chemicals, no burning which releases toxic chemicals like mercury from our bodies into the atmosphere, no markers which is pointless anyway. so when a bunch of people get buried, they create a forest. nice thought. Like compost! ;D

I think i'd rather donate my body to science. I have a lot of orthopedic problems on my legs, and perhaps from my bones, they can figure out better ways to deal with them for others. I rather like the idea of myself being useful, even in death.

I've actually thought about this, I know I'm morbid. But I want to be buried, but not embalmed. I don't like the idea of filling my body with chemicals and all the things they do to embalm it. I know in the Jewish religion they usually don't allow it and bury the person as soon as possible. That is what I want, although I am not Jewish. I don't like the idea of being cremated, something about your body reduced so quickly to dust doesn't sit with me. I want to be buried in a cemetary, I kind of like the idea of that more than any other option. I nice secluded, peaceful one though. But like Buzz said, I hope this isn't going to be an issue for many, many years.

My body is only meaningful when there is something conscious inside of it. I guess if there is anything worth learning from my body, then they can do that, but I don't want to be embalmed and placed in a metal coffin and waste yet more precious land in a cemetery. It seems like a vain proceeding and I'm vain enough living. I don't want to carry that over into death.

cremation, because fire is pure and clean and beautiful.
i think cremation would be much better than slowly rotting away. anyone here ever seen a partially rotten animal? it's not pretty. i wouldn't want that to happen to my body.

I'd like to be cremated when I die and have my ashes thrown into the ocean or a lake. I don't really like the idea of my body just sitting in the ground for the rest of time.

I'd have it donated to medical science, my body might as well be useful after my death rather then just being stuck in a coffin or whatever.

If anything, I'd do what Jeremy Bentham did:
As requested in his will, his body was preserved and stored in a wooden cabinet, termed his "Auto-Icon," at University College London. It has occasionally been brought out of storage for meetings of the Council and at official functions so that his eccentric presence can live on.
The Auto-Icon has always had a wax head, as Bentham's head was badly damaged in the preservation process. The real head was displayed in the same case for many years, but became the target of repeated student pranks including being stolen on more than one occasion. It is now locked away securely. (from Wikipedia)
What a king. Anyway, I agree with Paul, I'd give my body to science - I'm not going to be using it.

Cremation, I think. None of the options are that appealing, but I guess if I'm dead, burning me is the best option. However, Sweet Pea's suggestion sounds quite good too. Nice to think my death could directly help give life to something else. A tree would be more fitting a memorial than any expensive stone or overgrown burial mound.

I'll go with cremation out of those, but I hope they don't stop there. I want to be completely vaporized. Wipe my presence from the Earth. I don't exist.

i don't mind cremation itself but i hate actually going to a cremation, when the coffin goes away behind the curtain things. And it's so quick. The last one I went to as we went out other people were coming in, it was sick, like drive through or something, instant. I would rather be buried, in a church with alovely ceremony, makes everyone feel a bit better. And i suppose in a way you're contributing to the earth, it's kinda natural.

I'd rather be cremated. Being buried doesn't appeal to me... the thought of my body rotting away and taking up space in an already overcrowded cemetery isn't pleasant. I'd rather be dust lol.
