I've never really had a preference. However if I'm buried I don't want any embalming done, and I want to be put in one of those old fashioned wooden coffins. If I'm cremated I want my ashes scattered in an ocean or lake.

This may sound dumb, but is it true you cant be burried if you are not a christian?? Im just CofE. You can be buried if you are not a christian, you probably can't be buried in a church graveyard though. But in a public cemetery, definitely. I'm not so sure, and besides it's not like they can prove you're not a Christian anyway, unless you have a copy of the Qur'an or a membership card to the World Atheist Alliance on your (deceased) persons or something.

i know it doesnt really matter when youre dead but i would prefer to be cremated. I m claustrophobic and the thought of being stuck in the ground with all the crawly bugs and worms gives me the creeps. My ashes are gonna be scattered off a clifftop and be taken who knows where in the wind. I ll be free from everything.

I'll go for mummification like the ancient Egyptians............oh wait I guess that would entail burial. Oh well, that way the archaeologists of the future can dig me up, it'll give them something to do. Perhaps I should commission a tomb complete with booby traps and treasure.

Donate my body to medical science, or take my organs. Whatever, I won't need them anymore. If they can help other people so much the better.

Buried. With a mobile phone (i'm not kidding). I've got this fear that I might be mistaken for being dead when i'm actually not. My theory is, being burned will hurt more than being buried. After a while with a cofin you'd pass out (or call someone with the mobile phone). With a fire, once you're put on it that's it. I would donate my body for medical research, but i'm sure it's no good.

What I would want is a burial. What I might have to have might be cremation. And some people later won't have either one, unfortunately.

Buried somewhere remote with the right conditions for fossilisation. Throw in some laser pointers and a 'jedi bible' to confuse the hell out of geologists thousands of years from now
