This is basicly me warning people about this board.
Personally I've heard two stories, two atheists, who either had bad experiences or watched other people have them with these boards.
These boards are basiclly "contacting spirits on the other side" or whatever brand they brand it under, but it's very dangerous, because you never know with what kind of spirit on the other side are you dealing with. Personally I'd avoid any kind of "contacting spirits on the other side".
And these boards are, of course, nutorious for scaring people. People think it's all fun and games until they get a sneak preview of hell.

I really can't tell if you're joking or not..? Ideomotor action offers a pretty good explanation of how Ouija boards can seem to work, assuming that neither player is consciously trying to freak out their friend, lol. I used to own a Ouija board. It never did anything interesting, unfortunately. I think I may have started to move it intentionally a few times, but I'd get bored and go too fast and got caught. ;D

I've heard trying to "contact the other side" can be dangerous. Don't remember where, though. But it all seems like urban legend to me.
It's pure silliness really, without actually seeing it yourself or having real evidence to back it up.
Who are your sources exactly? I sure hope it's not another youtube video.

Not to be cheeky, but if you're only trying to warn people about said dangers, then why did you post it in the debate forum? Just saying...

Who are your sources exactly? I sure hope it's not another youtube video. Besides my two sources, who don't have any reason to lie about this, there's tons of these stories online. www.graveaddiction.com/ouija.htmlUnder the 'Contributed Ouija Board Stories' there's plenty of stories from various people ranging from interesting to frightening. Not everybody is as lucky as Farouche.

The Danger of the Ouija Board (an experience)I heard a recommendation on how to deal with deamons. He said that you say to it "In the name of my Lord Jesus Christ I ask you to leave." And it was said that they, the demons, can't refuse to leave. Interestingly enough there is a similar thing that happened in [url= the linked video.

If you play with fire you get burned. And people get 'burned', as evidenced by the sheer mass of negative experiences with Ouija. The way I see it, Ouija is a gateway for the demonic and astral spirits that take glee in scaring people and possesing them. Not everybody has negative experiences, but I think there is sufficient evidence out there for me to say that I don't think anything good ever came out of Ouija boards. For example a story I heard from a friend is that some weird things started happening after his daughter started using the board. So he decided to throw it away, only to find it sitting on the table a couple of days later. It's a common experience. Some people destroy it and then the board comes back, intact. That's enough to scare most people for life. I'll copy/paste one Ouija experience from some forum: "I don't think anyone has ever really had a positive experience with Ouija boards. It's very rare that you hear anyone having any sort of positive experience.
My experience with the board wasn't so great. The mother of my ex-friend had one. They were a strange, they were into all sorts of things - which pretty much included anything paranormal. Well, my ex friend and her sister decided they were going to have this huge sleepover. Well, all of a sudden everyone decided that they wanted to go upstairs and play with the Ouija board. I won't forget this night either, mainly because of what I saw while everyone was playing with the board. The only way I can describe what I saw was a huge, black shadow slowly looming around the room. It didn't take long before everybody else started noticing this THING roaming around the upstairs bedroom/attic, and we bolted pretty damn quickly! All I can say is that I was glad that I was the first one out of there... Shortly after that incident my friend's family moved out of that home for "reasons" that had to do with the attic, and other rooms associated with the upper part of the house.
I still kept in contact with my friend for awhile, and I did ask her about the house and what happened to it. The family that bought that house moved out after six months. There was no explanation as to why, but they packed up their things pretty damn quickly and left.
These things really aren't worth messing with. As far as I can tell you, Ouija boards definitely do not "attract" any kind of positive energy - at all. I say let them be."

i played with one with friends once when i was a kid. it was just a dumb piece of plastic on a piece of cardboard. as soon as i realized that piece of plastic wasn't gonna move unless i moved it, i lost interest in it.

I don't get it, are you serious (and possibly insane) or is this one long sarcastic joke?

I am quite serious. Look at the sites and videos I linked. This board ain't just fun and games folks. It can get serious pretty fast. From the wikipedia entry on Ouija: "A few paranormal researchers, such as John Zaffis, claim that the majority of the worst cases of so-called demon harassment and possession are caused by the use of Ouija boards."I don't know what the precentege of people who use it get some activity, but evidence points out that something's going on. And so it's best avoided, in my opinion, because nothing good comes out of it anyway. You never know who you're talking with on the 'other side'. I don't think the astral realm has much use for truth, when Lucifer and Satan rule there.

Plus, I read some of those stories you linked from a previous post. As for that little phrase you put in there...I think they use that for exorcisms. And for discussion's sake...assuming it can happen...if a person doesn't truly believe in the Lord, I'd question whether using that phrase could work. Anyway....all this thread is making me want to do is go out and buy a Ouija board to see if I can experience anything. Seriously.

Ouija board is old news!
I played with one as a teen. Nothing bad happened.
It gives me a chuckle how you young folks get all worked up over these old old things.
