I really haven't been a fan of some of the new writers, but if the rest of the new episodes turn out like the last one I think I won't have to bail on the series after all. Which is nice, because I've been watching since my dad introduced me to Tom Baker as a child.

The Bells has divided people.
You go on any forum site, it's 50/50. Some loved it, some hated it. The Den of Geek's review summed it up for me.
I thought it was staggeringly good, probably the best of season 7. The thing is, it didn't feel like Doctor Who and that may have affected people's judgment. Typing away, screen graphics - it was like a cross between Sherlock and Spooks. But that's the thing - do you want Doc Who to change and evolve, or do you want it to stay the same? It's the shows 50th year, if they can't do something different now, when can they?
I loved the new episode. So many great lines. Great chemistry. Loved Jenna, getting sick of the companions dying, though. I hope she doesn't die again. And I'm fed up of the question Doctor Who? The anti-grav bike - the plane, it all really worked. The budget they had was not massive. A lot of credit needs to go the production of the show. The new TARDIS, too, his costume and the bow tie - all certainly cool. And the new credits were awesome - I could keep going...
Matt was on fine form. Quickly becoming my favourite - it's hard not to like him and I really hope he comes back for season 8 next year. How likely that is depends what rumours you believe. His 'young-people-dancing' was sublime.
Also, David Tennant has been confirmed as appearing in the 50th special with Billie Piper. Now all we need is Chris, Paul, Sylvester and re-cast the rest. If they don't, I'm fearful Tennant's character will be the clone. And that'll be terrible. It's likely, though, as shooting starts next week.
Anywho, The Bells of St. John. 9/10. It would've been 10, but it did feel a bit like a tourist information video promoting London. And it's not that good, is it?

Den of Geek have done an interview with McCoy... he said the Beeb haven't contacted him, but hinted that Big Finish were working on something with the surviving Doctors (although they're not allowed to use the new ones).
I think it'll be a real shame, but Tennant said a few weeks ago that he had given up hope of being asked and Billie said she wouldn't be appearing. Lo and behold, they're both in it. Although I'm not bothered about Billie. But Moffat is writing it so she'll probably be killed off ten times before the opening credits...
With filming starting next week, I'm really hoping the reason McCoy is keeping quiet is because he's been told to and not because he hasn't been asked.
On the plus side, rumours have started circulating that Matt will stay on next year. I know they're just rumours but I hope they're true...

I hope so too, I would love at least one more season of Matt as the Doctor, maybe even two! And I reckon all the other cast members are going to be kept under wraps for as long as possible to make the Special more of a surprise. I imagine they'll leak tidbits now and again over the next 7 months.

I only heard that Tennant is involved for the 50th but why isn't Eccleston being asked also?

heeeeey, I watch this show too now. When I first saw that the girl's name was Clara on the Christmas episode I thought it was a reference to the Nutcraker ballet. But it wasn't.

In other news, I think I've turned a friend onto the show. If you can get someone to sit through 2-3 episodes, there's a good chance they'll get sucked in.

I'm sure your friend will be all caught up in no time.
I mean, there's only been 34 seasons...

Double post, sorry. Rumours are flying that Ecclestone has turned down a chance to appear in the 50th. Rumours of walk-outs and all sorts. It's a barrage of news. Confusion and everything else - it's mad, mad, mad. Apparently, Chris met with Moff but turned down the chance. Some rumours saying Chris walked out before filming was due to start. An 'official source' denying it. Conflicting messages coming from everywhere. Digital Spy article: www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s7/doctor-who/news/a470766/doctor-who-50th-bbc-denies-christopher-eccleston-quitting-rumours.htmlSmokescreen from the Beeb? Saying he's not in it and then he will be? I'm loving this craziness. It's gonna be a long, long day...

Eccleston always claimed he would never come back to the show, but I'm hoping he changed his mind and that all the rumors about him not being in it are just to confuse us.

I'm feeling exactly the same way, it would be such a shame if he didn't appear in the special, he was my first Doctor after all ;D.

My first Doctor, too. Prefer Matt, though... Two videos have showed up on the Den of Geek, 50th filming behind the scenes gubbins: www.denofgeek.com/tv/doctor-who/25154/doctor-who-50th-anniversary-episode-behind-the-scenes-clipsCheck out the second video. There's an actress in that video who talks to the camera wearing what she wears in the episode. Look at what she has around her neck... Tad familiar, no? There were also two TARDI (plural?) seen during today's filming. Two. Crossed paths, perhaps...
