Welcome to SU!! I have become more outgoing as I get older.... not a total 360, but better. Honestly, there is really not a darn thing wrong with being yourself, either way!!

You live in Richmond? That's just a little bit west of me. Yep, depending on where you are in the metro area. . . we are like 40 miles from each other. Plus, did you notice we are both close the Ms. Pnats, too?

Welcome Hopeful... I can't speak for anyone, but myself... I have felt everything that you mentioned in your post at one time or another.
One thing you can be sure of... you are not alone, many of us face similar, if not identical thoughts/feelings. We have a great bunch of folks here!! I know you will like it, if you just give it a chance.

"Welcome to SHY United - the positive website for people who are shy, socially anxious, socially isolated, have low self-esteem, no self-confidence or are interested in self-help." These are the words that appear on the homepage of the Shy United website - www.shyunited.com. If there are shy people on the web who want to maintain a site which emphasizes positive communication and de-emphasize flaming, trolling, personal attacks and shockjock entertainment, I don't see a problem with it. There are plenty of places on the web where a person can go for that kind of entertainment. The perception here is that there are shy people who benefit from having a relatively safe environment in which to express themselves. From what I've seen, this is true. I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of censorship so I've never tried to get rid of anyone I don't like or have any of their posts deleted or anything like that. The only person I've ever censored is myself. But, bottom line, this shy community has the right to self-regulate to maintain an atmosphere which encourages shy people who have difficulty expressing themselves to speak up. If anyone has a problem with that, then I think that indicates this really isn't the place for them. A problem which is easily remedied.

Jackson Brown Dr. My Eyes
Dr. my eyes have seen the years and this slow parade of fears without crying now I want to understand
I have done all that I could to see the evil and the good without hiding you must help me if you can
Dr. my eyes tell me what is wrong was I unwise to leave them open for so long?
'cause I have wandered through this world and each moment has unfurled I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams
('cause) people go just where they will I never notice them until i've got this fear that it's later than it seems
Dr. my eyes tell me what you see I hear the cries say if it's to late for me
Dr. my eyes tell me what you see I hear the cries say if it's to late for me
Dr. my eyes I cannot see the sky is this the prize for learning not to cry?

"When I’m sad, she comes to me With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free It’s alright she says it’s alright Take anything you want from me, anything Anything." - Little Wing, Jimi Hendrix I love that song. ;D Excellant song ... brings back good memories, too! Hendrix and Joplin were definitely before their time. Thanks for sharing it with us!!!
