sometimes i feel like it is so pointless. i mean if a guy who sends me roses, calls me and picks me up, pays for everything. who basically does all the crap that equates to being a nice guy and then he isnt really nice....then i mean WTF!?!?!?!??!?! All of those things are just materialistic. Personally, my definition of a "nice guy" isn't a guy who spends money on me/buys me stuff. It goes a lot deeper than that.

...Personally, my definition of a "nice guy"... and that highlights the pointlessness of the whole Nice Guy Argument. everybody has their own definition of what a Nice Guy is. alot of men who characterize themselves as Nice Guys are actually anything but in my book. and plenty of men who consider themselves to be Nice are lumping lots of other traits under that umbrella. but if you look up the definition of 'nice' you won't find them there. for example, on shy/social anxiety forums you see guys lumping traits such as timidity, passiveness and subservience under the label 'Nice'. it's kind of a sneaky way of trying to sell oneself i think. it's like they're saying 'i'll be really, really Nice to you if you put up with all of my undesireable traits' isn't it? and yeah...before anyone says it...some females do that too.

You're absolutely right. Everyone has their own definition, and also when people use the term "nice" - it hardly ever means what you might think.

The article makes me angry, but I find it agreeable as well. Ever wonder why some shy guys still seem to get girls? They may be shy, but they have personality and they're not boring.
To the ladies who dispute that article, remember that two anecdotes don't make a fact.

There we have it. Girls want a funny clown to cheer up their day and an exciting violent fellow who beats them up every now and then so that their lives won't be boring and predictable. Makes me wonder why would I want to have anything to do with creatures that like to be treated like crap. And to answer my question: nothing. Not any more. Modern women don't even want to do the dishes, so I don't lose anything by imply giving up on finding love.

Indeed I am, or was a nice guy. Nowdays people around me describe me as an *sshole.
Yet no-one still likes me. I guess I should have picket the golden middle-road or what is the term for that 50/50 solution in english.
