This thread might have been done before but I didn't see any recent ones. So what games are you currently playing? And, what do you think of them? Recommendations? Old games that you loved? I am currently playing Sims 3 for the PC. Its fun and addictive, but can be frustrating as hell sometimes

I have Sims 3 for the PS3...which I think was the last thing I played on there, need to get back to that sometime. I haven't played any games for a while, other than chess against my computer, lol.

I love chess against my computer! I love the smug air of satisfaction my computer takes on as it beats me repeatedly..... How is the PS3? I want to buy one, but they are expensive, I think I heard somewhere that they have 3D capabilities though. If thats true I going to start saving!

I like my PS3, though it gets used more as a dvd player. I also play netflix through it. I don't know about 3-d...but it does play blu ray. Newer version might play 3-d....or they'll be able to download updates.
I went with PS3 mostly for Metal gear solid 4, Tekken and final fantasy. plus i have a bunch of ps2 and ps1 games, and I wanted to be able to play them still.

Final Fantasy.... awesome game, I don't think there is one game in the series I didn't at least enjoy if not love. I played FFXI until my eyes bled, not because it was the best game ever but it was the first mmorpg I ever played. I never knew before then that such awesomeness existed. I keep meaning to get WOW as everyone says its pretty much the best game ever. I keep putting it off though because I dont want to become obsessed and spend every spare minute playing ..... which I know I would

I keep meaning to get WOW as everyone says its pretty much the best game ever. I keep putting it off though because I dont want to become obsessed and spend every spare minute playing ..... which I know I would It is my duty as someone who has played and been addicted to WoW for about 4 years, to advise you to stay away from that monstrosity. It will consume your soul, I'm not even joking. As for me, I am currently playing: PC - Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo (full game out soon) - Team Fortress 2 - Half Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2 Xbox 360 - Just picked up Blazblue: Continuum Shift, and Super Street Fighter 4 yesterday. Really felt like getting into the fighting genre and I'm enjoying it enough that I think I'll invest in an arcade stick controller. I got to play with one at a Marvel vs Capcom 3 tournament the other day and it was just so nice to use compared to a crappy gamepad.

I tend to avoid mmorpg as I know I would become quickly addicted and I spend already far more time than I should on my computer . As for other games I'm currently playing : Call of Duty 4, Mount & Blade Warband, KotOR 2 and last but not least, Battle Realms and its add-on, Winter of the Wolf ( an old rts title from which comes my pseudonym. )

I'm a fan of sweaty men (and women.....and giants.....and vertically challenged lil' people) in spandex pretending to hit the bejesus out of each other, so my game of choice for the PS3 is WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011. I'm also playing NBA Live '10. My strategy game of the moment is an online Zombie suvival fest called Rebuild @ Armor games. armorgames.com/play/10572/rebuild

I'm playing an old mmorpg called Asheron's Call, been on and off that game for more than 10 years now.
I've tried playing world of warcraft a few times, it's ok, but it aint no AC.

lol I just picked up Tekken 6 today on Xbox 360 + Arcade stick controller + Tekken 6 Art book all for 100 AU. Super deal there!
It's a bit alien to me as far as fighters go though, feels kinda hard to get good combos to work compared with something like Soul Calibur. I'm going to learn it though, started with going into practice mode with Lili today and just playing with the moves in the command list. Then I took the arcade stick into Street fighter 4 and holy fucking shit it makes so much of a difference its fucking hillarious. I can reliably do all the motions for hadoukens, shoryukens, 360 degree spins, 180 degree spins in succession etc etc. I can ACTUALLY string together some half decent combos for someone who's only been playing SSFIV for under a week inconsistently.

I've never been a huge fan of Street fighter, although i've only played it a couple of times. Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibar are my faves.

I had Soul Calibur II & III on my Playstation 2 ( Back when it was still working ;D ) and I remember it was sometimes possible to make combos while hitting the gamepad buttons randomly. That was not the case with Tekken V, which was a much harder game for me.

Ah yes, soul calibur was always a button mash friendly game. Really enjoyed mashing on Soul calibur 2, my friend started to learn how to play Nightmare (Knightmare?) really well and I started to learn to play Mitsurugi really well and we'd do infinite health battles where the only way to actually win was to knock the opponent out. We never really tried to win though, we'd just beat the shit out of each other ;D
Super Street Fighter 4 on the other hand, is very non-button-masher-friendly. Some of the combos require you to input the button needed in a 17 millisecond window (1 frame of animation in the game), in order for the combo to work. That is a TIGHT window, mashing doesn't help AT ALL (I've tried). Gotta practice and use extra techniques like plinking and double tapping to help your execution (while still practicing precision regularly).
