Monday 28th April Only one week to go until race day. I can’t wait. Tuesday 29th April Making plans for Monday. I will get up around 6am on Monday morning so that I can have a good breakfast and allow it time to digest. I will have muesli and toast smothered by honey. All that will be washed down with a black coffee to help the food into fuel process get under way. I’ll leave for the race around 8am for the 9.30am start. I will change at Mayfield and then it’s a short walk to the start at City Hall. Hopefully, the crowds will be out cheering us round. Wednesday 30th April Dyed my hair ‘Atomic Blue’ today! I was going to dye it lilac to match the colour of the HD symbol but I couldn’t find a good enough match. My hair is now jet black with blue highlights. Needless to say, I’ve been getting a lot of stick at home. I bought a packet of dried dates and a large block of Marzipan. Thursday 1st May Picked up my marathon pack from Maysfield Leisure Centre containing my tee shirt, race number, running chip and a few other goodies. The chip must be attached to my running shoes on race day. It stops cheating and gives you an accurate time. I showed off the top – and my hair – at tonight’s HD support group meeting. I don’t know what went down better! The response to my calls for sponsorship has been overwhelming. Thanks to everybody who sponsored me. Check out my Marathon Run Report for a rundown on how it went. northernirelandhd.tripod.com/northernirelandhuntingdons/id90.html

My hair is now blue!
Well, 'Atomic blue' to be exact. I did it for the marathon on Monday. It's dark dark dark blue with a hint of silver. You can't miss me! I'll try to get a photo done over the weekend. I've been getting a lot of banter from my family and a few looks outside.

When I'm bored I tend to come up with crazy ideas some times. Today I'm thinking about dying my hair bright purple for the marathon on Monday. I'm running for Huntington's Disease and their global symbol is a purple flower. Somebody talk me out of it please!

I'm bored! I had an 18 mile run last night and an incredibly boring equal opportunities meeting first thing this morning for the Huntington's Disease Association. I could hardley keep my eyes open during the meeting.
My anxiety levels raise big time if I'm not doing something. Does anybody find they become more conscious about their shyness when they have time on their hands?

The old saying of 'be yourself' is very true were shyness is concerned. Never try to pretend to be anything your not - like try to act the stud when that's not really you. You will find that it's far easier to live with yourself if you are true to yourself - and people will accept you for what you are.

Welcome to the SHY United Boards.
I was pretty popular at school as well and it was only when I left that I became pretty shy and would hardley talk. I think a lot of it was to do with the fact that I had been at school with the guys in my class for 5 years - so they knew me and I knew them. Once I started Uni and then work it was a differnet story. During my last job, there were people I never talked to as well.
Moogle is right. You should start with a few things you have in common like the work you're doing or the weaather. That will act as a great confidence builder and you can move on from there. Confidence is the key.

Friday 18th April Rest day
Saturday 19th April Long run today. 15 miles from Shaw’s Bridge to Laganside - and back. I walked a few of the miles in between. This will be the route for next Saturday’s longest run of 18 miles. It was a good run. Luckily the high temperatures from earlier in the week had gone. I lost a bottle of my magic brew on the way. I can’t afford for that to happen again next week. My cousin says he has a really good money belt big enough to hold the bottles firmly in place. As soon as he sets the moths free that have taken up residence in it he’ll let me have it.
Sunday 20th April And speaking of my cousin, he turned up this morning for our ten-mile run sporting a brand new pair of flash, steal your girlfriend, cut off your head and spit down your throat, training shoes. Ha ha ha! The fool! He obviously hasn’t read the ‘Marathon Runner’s Bible.’ Chapter 15 of the Bible gives the ‘Marathon Runners 10 Commandments.’ Commandment number 1 clearly states: ‘Thou shalt not turn up for a ten-mile run with a brand new pair of training shoes.’
A few minutes into our run, he started complaining about sore toes, sore heels and sore every other part of the body known to mankind. He even blamed the war in Iraq on his shoes at one stage. He started whinging again because the café at Laganside was shut. I told him that it was Easter Sunday morning but he wasn’t listening.
Monday 21st April Only two weeks left until race day. You wouldn’t half know it! The amount of runners out and about at the minute is unbelievable. There also seems to be a lot of people out on mountain bikes. Surely that’s cheating!
Tuesday 22nd April 12 mile run this morning. I started from Drum Bridge and ran the scenic route to Shaw’s Bridge and back again. Another good run. As I was running, the advert for the Marathon came on my Walkman. Hearing it really gave me a buzz – or was that just a loose wire!
Wednesday 23rd April I’m injured! Don’t panic. I’m not that bad. I bit into an apple today and I’ve cut the top of my mouth - just behind my front teeth. It is pretty painful but I’ll soldier on.
Thursday 24th April Mouth feeling a lot better today. 12 mile run over the same course as Tuesday. I’ve been thinking about how my training has come along. I’ve noticed that I’m being lapped a lot less by Jimmy Saville look-alikes than I was a few weeks ago, which can only be a good thing.

The only time I have ever been able to understand text messeges is when I'm drunk! I must be showing my age. It's just laziness when they do nothing else but abbreviate.

I had a great time aat school which was pretty surprising because I was pretty smart and I went to a state school. Normally thats enough to get your craop kicked in. But I was always very sporty and played on every sports team possible like the footy and athletics team. A lot of those who picked on people in our class tended to be sporty as well so I was accepted.

I've been away to sunny climes a few times and it has never maded me smirk. After the first day or two you get used to it and don't even notice half the time.

Talking seriously about anger management, I find that exercise is a great way to beat it. I'll give you all an example. A few weeks ago I was trying to change the colours of a shy website forum pages. Could I get it right! Could I pick colour that everybody loved! No! Cue plenty of anger. A few trips to the gym saw me come out so docile everybody thougt I was on drugs.

Thanks for those eight hundred posts! I am a bit like that as well but I try not to let myself be. Sometimes, as you know how to already, you just have to tell them to take a long walk of a shrot pier.
