if you seek freedom from desire then you are locking yourself into the 'desire to be free from desire' Now you're going Zen on me. ;D

maybe we just need a mod to lock the thread and hope the animosity dies down. Well, i moved this thread to the debates' section specifically so that it might die down a little. The debates' section is for this kind of thing; discussions that become almost verbal fisfights. This section is regulated less than others on SU, with the exception of perhaps the Adults' section. I don't mind seeing people debate over religion. The trick is to keep it in the abstract, and not let it get too personal.

what makes humans different from the animals and the angels is that we have a choice to love and worship God wheras creation and the angels were made without such a free will. So Lucifer didn't have free will? You are saying that Satan does what he does because that is exactly what God wants him to do. Interesting... kind of like the portrayal of Satan in Job. I don't want to get too drawn into this debate, but biblically i know that the Angels were created witb free wills. Thus, they could choose either God or themselves. Biblically, in the NT, Lucifer chose himself. Others followed him, but most did not. I think that if the biblical creation stories are true, God created the angels and humans so that he could exist in them himself. They could choose to let him in or not. I just wanted to throw that bit of info in there, that's all. Personally, i think God is much more of a scientific creator than father figure. But if one does not take the Bible literally, word for word, it may turn out to have a great deal of truth to it after all.
